“ You are destroyed, Israel, because you are against me, against your helper.

“ Israel, you will be destroyed. I helped you. But you turned against me.

“ You are about to be destroyed, O Israel— yes, by me, your only helper.

I will destroy you, Israel; you have no help but me.

It is to your own destruction, Israel, That you are against Me, against your help.

It is thy destruction, O Israel, that thou art against me, against thy help.

I will destroy you, Israel; you have no help but Me.

O Israel, thou hast destroyed thyself; but in me[ is] thine help.

I will destroy you, O Israel! Who is there to help you?

You are destroyed, Israel, because you are against me, against your help.

Have you not brought this upon yourself by forsaking the Lord your God, when he led you in the way?

Your evil will chastise you, and your apostasy will reprove you. Know and see that it is evil and bitter for you to forsake the Lord your God; the fear of me is not in you, declares the Lord God of hosts.

“ There is none like God, O Jeshurun, who rides through the heavens to your help, through the skies in his majesty.

Your ways and your deeds have brought this upon you. This is your doom, and it is bitter; it has reached your very heart.”

But I am the Lord your God from the land of Egypt; you know no God but me, and besides me there is no savior.

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God,

For the look on their faces bears witness against them; they proclaim their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! For they have brought evil on themselves.

Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, the shield of your help, and the sword of your triumph! Your enemies shall come fawning to you, and you shall tread upon their backs.”

Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for what his hands have dealt out shall be done to him.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Your iniquities have turned these away, and your sins have kept good from you.

And now entreat the favor of God, that he may be gracious to us. With such a gift from your hand, will he show favor to any of you? says the Lord of hosts.

He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In lovehe predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.

And this occurred because the people of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, who had brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other godsand walked in the customs of the nations whom the Lord drove out before the people of Israel, and in the customs that the kings of Israel had practiced.And the people of Israel did secretly against the Lord their God things that were not right. They built for themselves high places in all their towns, from watchtower to fortified city.They set up for themselves pillars and Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree,and there they made offerings on all the high places, as the nations did whom the Lord carried away before them. And they did wicked things, provoking the Lord to anger,and they served idols, of which the Lord had said to them,“ You shall not do this.”Yet the Lord warned Israel and Judah by every prophet and every seer, saying,“ Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”But they would not listen, but were stubborn, as their fathers had been, who did not believe in the Lord their God.They despised his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers and the warnings that he gave them. They went after false idols and became false, and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the Lord had commanded them that they should not do like them.And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of two calves; and they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal.And they burned their sons and their daughters as offerings and used divination and omens and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger.

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared,he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.”
