God’s Glory, Human Dignity
1Lord, our Lord,
how magnificent is your name throughout the earth!8:1 Is 12:4
You have covered the heavens with your majesty.8:1 Lit earth, which has set your splendor upon the heavens8:1 Ps 113:4; 148:13
you have established a stronghold8:2 LXX reads established praise
on account of your adversaries
in order to silence the enemy and the avenger.
3When I observe your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
4what is a human being that you remember him,
a son of man8:4 Or a mere mortal that you look after him?8:4 Jb 7:17–18; Ps 144:3
and crowned him with glory and honor.
6You made him ruler over the works of your hands;
7all the sheep and oxen,
as well as the animals in the wild,
8the birds of the sky,
and the fish of the sea
9Lord, our Lord,
how magnificent is your name throughout the earth!
