For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

People like that are not serving Christ our Lord. They are serving only themselves. With smooth talk and with words they don’t mean they fool people who don’t know any better.

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling[ words], having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.

For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.One of themselves,[ even] a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians[ are] alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Spots[ they are] and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam[ the son] of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds[ they are] without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

For such[ are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.Therefore[ it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.

Now the sons of Eli[ were] sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD.And the priests’ custom with the people[ was, that], when any man offered sacrifice, the priest’s servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;And he struck[ it] into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.Also before they burnt the fat, the priest’s servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw.And[ if] any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and[ then] take[ as much] as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him,[ Nay]; but thou shalt give[ it me] now: and if not, I will take[ it] by force.Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD.

If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will[ my] Father honour.

Therefore will I give their wives unto others,[ and] their fields to them that shall inherit[ them]: for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness, from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when[ there is] no peace.

For your obedience is come abroad unto all[ men]. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.

They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

His watchmen[ are] blind: they are all ignorant, they[ are] all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.Yea,[ they are] greedy dogs[ which] can never have enough, and they[ are] shepherds[ that] cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.Come ye,[ say they], I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day,[ and] much more abundant.

[ To wit], the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning Jerusalem, and which see visions of peace for her, and[ there is] no peace, saith the Lord GOD.

Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The LORD hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion against the LORD.So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.

For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.

The law of the LORD[ is] perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD[ is] sure, making wise the simple.

And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear[ your] lies?

The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

But shun profane[ and] vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;And shall begin to smite[ his] fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for[ him], and in an hour that he is not aware of,And shall cut him asunder, and appoint[ him] his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if[ it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

The simple believeth every word: but the prudent[ man] looketh well to his going.

And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year,[ and] in the fifth month,[ that] Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, which[ was] of Gibeon, spake unto me in the house of the LORD, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of the LORD’S house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and carried them to Babylon:And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, saith the LORD: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.Then the prophet Jeremiah said unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of the LORD,Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: the LORD do so: the LORD perform thy words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of the LORD’S house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place.Nevertheless hear thou now this word that I speak in thine ears, and in the ears of all the people;The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil, and of pestilence.The prophet which prophesieth of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass,[ then] shall the prophet be known, that the LORD hath truly sent him.

Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded[ in my] habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?

Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ,[ and] called:

James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified[ it] by his angel unto his servant John:

Who[ is there] even among you that would shut the doors[ for nought]? neither do ye kindle[ fire] on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
