你所看见的那兽，先前在而现今不在，并将要从无底坑里上来，然后走向灭亡。住在地上的人，凡是名字从创世以来没有被记在生命册上的，看见那先前在而现今不在，并将要出现的兽时，都会感到惊奇。

藉着那些奇迹，就是它被准许在第一只兽面前所行的奇迹，它就迷惑了住在地上的人，告诉住在地上的人，要为那受刀伤却活过来的兽，造一个像。

他们目的一致，把自己的能力和权柄交给那兽。

因为神把意念放在他们心中，要他们实现他的目的，要他们行事目的一致，并把十只角的王权交给那兽，直到神的话语成就。

接着，我看见一只兽从海里上来。它有十只角和七个头，十只角上戴着十个王冠，七个头上都有亵渎的名号。我所看见的这兽，仿佛一只豹，它的脚像熊的脚，口像狮子的口。龙把自己的能力、王位和大权交给了这兽。

它在第一只兽的面前，施行第一只兽的一切权柄，强迫大地和住在地上的人来膜拜第一只兽，就是致命伤得了痊愈的那兽。

所有的人，从卑微的到尊贵的，都听从他。他们说：“这个人就是那被称为‘神的大能者’的。”他们听从他，因为他长期以来用邪术使他们十分惊讶。

五个已经倒了，一个还在，另一个还没有到来；他来的时候，必须存留片刻。

这不法之人的到来，是出于撒旦的作为，对那些正在灭亡的人，使用一切能力、虚假的神迹和奇事，并且使用一切不义的诡计，因为他们不接受那能使他们得救的真理之爱。为此，神就把一种迷惑人的力量送进他们里面，使他们相信虚假之事，好使所有不相信真理而喜悦不义的人，都被定罪。

连西门自己也信了。他受洗以后，常常跟着腓利，看见所行出来的神迹和大能，就十分惊讶。

随后，我看见那女人喝醉了圣徒们的血，以及为耶稣做见证之人的血。我看到她就大大惊奇。

于是法利赛人互相说：“可见你们真没用！看，这世界都跟随他去了。”

就在那些日子里，凯撒奥古斯都颁布谕令，要普天下的人都登记户口。
