He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

“ My spirit is broken, My days are extinguished, The grave is ready for me.

“ Awake, O sword, against My Shepherd, Against the Man who is My Companion,” Says the Lord of hosts.“ Strike the Shepherd, And the sheep will be scattered; Then I will turn My hand against the little ones.

My days are past, My purposes are broken off, Even the thoughts of my heart.They change the night into day;‘ The light is near,’ they say, in the face of darkness.If I wait for the grave as my house, If I make my bed in the darkness,If I say to corruption,‘ You are my father,’ And to the worm,‘ You are my mother and my sister,’Where then is my hope? As for my hope, who can see it?Will they go down to the gates of Sheol? Shall we have rest together in the dust?”

Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.

For all day long I have been plagued, And chastened every morning.

And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
