When godly people win, everyone is very happy. But when sinners take charge, everyone hides.

Then on that day David first assigned Asaph and his relatives to give thanks to the Lord.Give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; Make His deeds known among the peoples.Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders.Boast in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek the Lord be joyful.Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually.Remember His wonderful deeds which He has done, His marvels and the judgments from His mouth,You descendants of Israel His servant, Sons of Jacob, His chosen ones!He is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth.Remember His covenant forever, The word which He commanded to a thousand generations,The covenant which He made with Abraham, And His oath to Isaac.He also confirmed it to Jacob as a statute, To Israel as an everlasting covenant,Saying,“ To you I will give the land of Canaan, As the portion of your inheritance.”When they were only a few in number, Very few, and strangers in it,And they wandered from nation to nation, And from one kingdom to another people,He allowed no one to oppress them, And He rebuked kings for their sakes, saying,“ Do not touch My anointed ones, And do not harm My prophets.”Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Proclaim good news of His salvation from day to day.Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all gods.For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens.Splendor and majesty are before Him, Strength and joy are in His place.Ascribe to the Lord, you families of the peoples, Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him; Worship the Lord in holy attire.Tremble before Him, all the earth; Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved.Let the heavens be joyful, and the earth rejoice; And let them say among the nations,“ The Lord reigns.”Let the sea roar, and everything it contains; Let the field rejoice, and everything that is in it.Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy in the presence of the Lord; For He is coming to judge the earth.Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His faithfulness is everlasting.Then say,“ Save us, God of our salvation, And gather us and save us from the nations, To give thanks to Your holy name, And glory in Your praise.”Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, From everlasting to everlasting! “ Go away from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.And it shall be that you will drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to provide food for you there.”So he went and did everything according to the word of the Lord, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan.And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook.But it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying,“ Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there; behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide food for you.”So he arose and went to Zarephath, and when he came to the entrance of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks; and he called to her and said,“ Please get me a little water in a cup, so that I may drink.”As she was going to get it, he called to her and said,“ Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand.”But she said,“ As the Lord your God lives, I have no food, only a handful of flour in the bowl and a little oil in the jar; and behold, I am gathering a few sticks so that I may go in and prepare it for me and my son, so that we may eat it and die.”However, Elijah said to her,“ Do not fear; go, do as you have said. Just make me a little bread loaf from it first and bring it out to me, and afterward you may make one for yourself and for your son.For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel says:‘ The bowl of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil become empty, until the day that the Lord provides rain on the face of the earth.’ ”So she went and did everything in accordance with the word of Elijah, and she and he and her household ate for many days.The bowl of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil become empty, in accordance with the word of the Lord which He spoke through Elijah.Now it happened after these things that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became sick; and his condition became very grave, until at the end he was no longer breathing.So she said to Elijah,“ Why is my business any of yours, you man of God? Yet you have come to me to bring my wrongdoing to remembrance, and to put my son to death!”But he said to her,“ Give me your son.” Then he took him from her arms and carried him up to the upstairs room where he was living, and laid him on his own bed.And he called to the Lord and said,“ Lord, my God, have You also brought catastrophe upon the widow with whom I am staying, by causing her son to die?”Then he stretched himself out over the boy three times, and called to the Lord and said,“ Lord, my God, please, let this boy’s life return to him.”And the Lord listened to the voice of Elijah, and the life of the boy returned to him and he revived.Elijah then took the boy and brought him down from the upstairs room into the house and gave him to his mother; and Elijah said,“ See, your son is alive.”Then the woman said to Elijah,“ Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is truth.”

And he was afraid, and got up and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah; and he left his servant there.

Then on the twenty third day of the seventh month he sent the people to their tents, rejoicing and happy in heart because of the goodness that the Lord had shown to David, to Solomon, and to His people Israel.

For when an ear heard, it called me blessed, And when an eye saw, it testified in support of me,Because I saved the poor who cried for help, And the orphan who had no helper.The blessing of the one who was about to perish came upon me, And I made the widow’s heart sing for joy.I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; My justice was like a robe and a headband.I was eyes to those who were blind, And feet to those who could not walk.I was a father to the poor, And I investigated the case which I did not know.I broke the jaws of the wicked And rescued the prey from his teeth.Then I thought,‘ I will die with my family, And I will multiply my days as the sand.My root is spread out to the waters, And dew lies on my branch all night.My glory is ever new with me, And my bow is renewed in my hand.’

So it was David, with the elders of Israel and the captains of thousands, who went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord from the house of Obed edom with joy.Because God was helping the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the Lord, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.Now David was clothed with a robe of fine linen with all the Levites who were carrying the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the leader of the singing with the singers. David also wore an ephod of linen.So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the horn, with trumpets, with loud sounding cymbals, with harps, and lyres.

So, my father, look! Indeed, look at the edge of your robe in my hand! For by the fact that I cut off the edge of your robe but did not kill you, know and understand that there is no evil or rebellion in my hands, and I have not sinned against you, though you are lying in wait for my life, to take it.

Then David said to all the assembly,“ Now bless the Lord your God.” And all the assembly blessed the Lord, the God of their fathers, and bowed down and paid homage to the Lord and the king.On the next day they made sacrifices to the Lord and offered burnt offerings to the Lord, a thousand bulls, a thousand rams, and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.So they ate and drank that day before the Lord with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king a second time, and they anointed him as ruler for the Lord and Zadok as priest.

Then Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in a royal robe of violet and white, with a large crown of gold and a garment of fine linen and purple; and the city of Susa shouted and rejoiced.For the Jews there was light, joy, jubilation, and honor.In each and every province and in each and every city, wherever the king’s commandment and his decree arrived, there was joy and jubilation for the Jews, a feast and a holiday. And many among the peoples of the land became Jews, because the dread of the Jews had fallen on them.

They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to death with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented( people of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts, on mountains, and sheltering in caves and holes in the ground.

There is an evil I have seen under the sun, like a mistake that proceeds from the ruler:foolishness is set in many exalted places while the rich sit in humble places.

Then Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who showed good insight in the things of the Lord. So they ate for the appointed seven days, sacrificing peace offerings and giving thanks to the Lord God of their fathers.Then the whole assembly decided to celebrate the feast another seven days, so they celebrated the seven days with joy.For Hezekiah king of Judah had contributed to the assembly a thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep, and the princes had contributed to the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep; and a large number of priests consecrated themselves.All the assembly of Judah rejoiced, with the priests and the Levites and all the assembly that came from Israel, both the strangers who came from the land of Israel and those living in Judah.So there was great joy in Jerusalem, because there was nothing like this in Jerusalem since the days of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel.Then the Levitical priests stood and blessed the people; and their voice was heard and their prayer came to His holy dwelling place, to heaven.

And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king’s son, Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but the Lord hid them.

And as soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen,shouting:“ Blessed is the King, the One who comes in the name of the Lord; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

Woe to you, land whose king is a boy, and whose princes feast in the morning.
