“ For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor,

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

“ Some remove landmarks; They seize flocks violently and feed on them;They drive away the donkey of the fatherless; They take the widow’s ox as a pledge.

And I will come near you for judgment; I will be a swift witness Against sorcerers, Against adulterers, Against perjurers, Against those who exploit wage earners and widows and orphans, And against those who turn away an alien— Because they do not fear Me,” Says the Lord of hosts.

They slay the widow and the stranger, And murder the fatherless.

If I have raised my hand against the fatherless, When I saw I had help in the gate;Then let my arm fall from my shoulder, Let my arm be torn from the socket.For destruction from God is a terror to me, And because of His magnificence I cannot endure.

“ Some snatch the fatherless from the breast, And take a pledge from the poor.

You have sent widows away empty, And the strength of the fatherless was crushed.
