In their hunger you gave them bread from heaven and in their thirst you brought them water from the rock; you told them to go in and take possession of the land you had sworn with uplifted hand to give them.

When the people were hungry, you gave them bread from heaven. When they were thirsty, you brought them water out of a rock. You told them to go into the land of Canaan. You told them to take it as their own. It was the land you had promised to give them.

When the dew that lay had gone, behold, on the surface of the wilderness was a small round thing, small as the frost on the ground.When the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another,“ What is it?” For they didn’t know what it was. Moses said to them,“ It is the bread which Yahweh has given you to eat.

They asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of the sky.He opened the rock, and waters gushed out. They ran as a river in the dry places.

Moreover also I swore to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;

who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of waters.

Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness. As it is written,‘ He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.’”Jesus therefore said to them,“ Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.”They said therefore to him,“ Lord, always give us this bread.”Jesus said to them,“ I am the bread of life. He humbled you, allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know, that he might teach you that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of Yahweh’s mouth.

who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, with venomous snakes and scorpions, and thirsty ground where there was no water; who poured water for you out of the rock of flint;who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers didn’t know, that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end;

You gave also your good Spirit to instruct them, and didn’t withhold your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst.

You shall bring water to them out of the rock; so you shall give the congregation and their livestock drink.”Moses took the rod from before Yahweh, as he commanded him.Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them,“ Hear now, you rebels! Shall we bring water out of this rock for you?”Moses lifted up his hand, and struck the rock with his rod twice, and water came out abundantly. The congregation and their livestock drank.Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron,“ Because you didn’t believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”These are the waters of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with Yahweh, and he was sanctified in them.

Behold, Yahweh your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as Yahweh the God of your fathers has spoken to you. Don’t be afraid, neither be dismayed.”

surely you shall not come into the land concerning which I swore that I would make you dwell therein, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

“ Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go across this Jordan, you and all these people, to the land which I am giving to them, even to the children of Israel.I have given you every place that the sole of your foot will tread on, as I told Moses.From the wilderness and this Lebanon even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.
