“ When the neighboring peoples bring merchandise or grain to sell on the Sabbath, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or on any holy day. Every seventh year we will forgo working the land and will cancel all debts.

“ The people around us will bring goods and grain to sell on the Sabbath day. But we won’t buy anything from them on the Sabbath day. In fact, we won’t buy anything from them on any holy day. Every seventh year we won’t farm the land. And we’ll forgive people what they owe us.

And if the peoples of the land bring in goods or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or on a holy day. And we will forego the crops of the seventh year and the exaction of every debt.

“ We also promise that if the people of the land should bring any merchandise or grain to be sold on the Sabbath or on any other holy day, we will refuse to buy it. Every seventh year we will let our land rest, and we will cancel all debts owed to us.

We will not buy on the Sabbath or on a holy day from the neighboring peoples who bring their wares and all kinds of grain to sell on the Sabbath day. We will let the fields lie fallow every seventh year, and we will cancel every loan.

六年間、耕耘田畝、獲其所產、越至七年以為閒田、休息不耕、使民之貧者食之、其餘為野獸食可也。橄欖與葡萄園亦然。

六日間宜操作、越至七日乃安息、必有聖會、悉休其工、無論所往、必守安息、以奉事我。

當時我見猶大國人、於安息日、踐醡運麥、使驢負載、攜酒、葡萄、無花果、日用之物、於安息日、進耶路撒冷、亦見人於是日鬻食物、我責之、有推羅人居耶路撒冷、攜魚及日用之物、安息日、鬻於猶大族。我責猶大世職曰、爾奚犯安息日、多行不義。昔我列祖行是、上帝降災、罰及我身、殲滅斯邑、爾又犯之、貽禍於以色列族、尤有甚焉。我於安息日前夕、命閉邑門、待安息日後則啟、亦使我僕侍於門側、不許人於安息日負載入邑。商賈及市物者、宿於邑外、非止一次。我問之曰、爾奚附邑垣而宿、如再行此、我必執爾、自此以後、安息日彼不復至。我使利未人、潔其身體、防範邑門、恪守安息日、以為聖日、我既行此、望上帝垂念、恆懷矜憫、宥我罪愆。

越至七日、則耶和華、爾上帝之安息日也、是日、爾與子女僕婢牲畜、及遠人主於爾家者、皆勿操作、

為強暴故拘繫者、當縱之自逸、釋人重負、伸人屈抑、折人衡軛、禁食若此、我何不喜。

匹夫匹婦號呼、怨其同宗猶大人、或曰、我已頻鬻子女、易穀養生。或曰、飢饉既甚、我已質田園宅第於人以糴穀。或曰、我之田園、已質於人、得金以納稅。我及我子、與同宗何異、奚以我之子女、為人服役、我有數女為人所玷、欲拯無能、我之田園、為人所據。民出怨言若此、我聞之甚怒、中心籌畫、責諸伯世職、曰、爾貸同宗金、權子母、果何為乎、我集會眾、告之曰、我之同宗、猶大人、鬻於異邦、我盡力贖之、爾乃以同宗為奇貨乎、眾無詞以對。我又曰、爾所為不善、尚其寅畏上帝、則敵我之異邦人、誰敢侮予。我與宗人僕從、未嘗誅求於民、或金或穀我弗取、放利之事、爾不可行。爾得同儕田疇、葡萄園、橄欖囿、宅第、又征金穀酒油之利、今悉當反之。眾言必將反之、不敢取利、遵命以行。我使祭司命眾發誓、必踐其言。我則拂去衣上塵、曰、凡不踐其言、上帝必去之、有如此衣、離家室、失產業、使之匱乏。會眾曰、正所願也、遂頌讚耶和華。嗣後民咸從斯言。

於是以色列土地荒寂、若享安息、歷七十年、應耶利米所傳耶和華言、

耶和華於西乃山、諭摩西曰、告以色列族云、爾既至我所錫之地、當休息土壤、敬恪乎我。六年間、耕耘田畝、治理葡萄、斂其所產、越至七年、使土休息、敬恪乎我、斯時也、田畝勿耕、葡萄勿治、田畝之不耕而發者、勿穫、葡萄之不治而實者、勿摘、蓋是年其土乃休息。當其時也、土之所產、為爾及僕婢、傭人、賓旅、六畜、野獸、所食。

念茲勿忘、不矜恤人者、則被鞫時、亦必不見矜恤、惟素矜恤人者、喜以待鞫、

主憐而釋之、免其債、其臣出、遇同僚、負十金、執之、扼其吭曰、爾所負者、當償我、同僚俯伏求曰、請寛我、我將盡償、弗許、下之獄、責償所負、諸同僚見之、憂甚、以其事赴愬於主、主召之曰、惡哉臣也、爾所負求我、我則免之、不當矜恤同僚、亦猶我矜恤爾乎、由是主怒、交之獄吏、責償所負、若爾眾不心赦兄弟之過、則我天父視爾亦將如是、

七月十日、無論宗族賓旅、當卑以自牧、免於操作、著為永例。

爾上帝耶和華所賜之地、如邑有同儕貧乏、毋剛愎乃心、毋固執爾手、乃必大啟爾手、貸之以補所缺、勿惡念是懷、謂七年當釋之期伊邇、遂睚眦同儕之貧乏者、無有所予、其呼籲耶和華、罪歸於爾、

每七年後、必有所釋、其釋之事有定例焉。貸金與同儕者必釋之、耶和華使人相釋之年普告於眾、則兄弟同儕毋相迫索。屬己之物、可索諸外人、惟兄弟則當釋、如爾中無匱乏者、則不循此例、

我免人負、求免我負、

首日有聖會、毋操作、此七日間、日獻燔祭、以奉事我、越至八日、為聖會之大日、工作咸止、宜獻燔祭、以奉事我。

首日必為聖會、七日亦必為聖會、是日勿操作、推備食則可。

是日必有聖會、播告於眾、咸止工作、著為永例、歷代勿替、隨往勿易。

耶和華曰、爾當謹恪、安息日勿負荷入耶路撒冷邑門。安息日勿負荷出爾室、亦勿操作、乃以安息日為聖日、遵我所諭爾祖之命、

爾勿以飲食、節期、月朔、安息日故、被人擬議、

恪守安息日、以為聖日、遵耶和華爾上帝之命、六日間宜操作、越至七日、則耶和華爾上帝之安息日也、是日爾與子女僕婢牛驢牲畜、及遠人主於爾家者、皆勿操作、使爾僕婢安息、與爾無異。

安息日我之聖日、如爾以是日為可喜可尊、奉事乎我、不務操作、不耽宴樂、不任己意、不言虛誕、以我為悅、我必升爾於崇邱、享爾祖雅各之業、我耶和華已言之矣。
