連忙將耶穌帶回總督府，問祂：「你到底是從哪裡來的？」但耶穌沒有回答。

黎明的時候，眾人從該亞法那裡把耶穌押往總督府，他們自己卻沒有進去，因為怕沾染污穢，不能吃逾越節的晚餐。

士兵把耶穌押進總督府，叫全營的士兵都集在祂周圍。他們剝下耶穌的衣服，替祂披上一件朱紅色的長袍，用荊棘編成冠冕，戴在祂頭上，又拿一根葦稈放在祂右手裡，跪在祂跟前戲弄祂，說：「猶太人的王萬歲！」然後向祂吐唾沫，拿過葦稈打祂的頭。他們戲弄完了，就脫去祂的袍子，給祂穿上原來的衣服，把祂押出去釘十字架。

那時，祭司長和民間的長老正聚集在大祭司該亞法的府裡，

在凱撒利亞有一位隸屬義大利營的百夫長名叫哥尼流。

彼拉多回到總督府提審耶穌，問道：「你是猶太人的王嗎？」
