When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples,“ Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

I wrote unto you in my epistle to have no company with fornicators;not at all meaning with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world:but as it is, I wrote unto you not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no, not to eat.

We being Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,

who can bear gently with the ignorant and erring, for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity;

And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, He is gone in to lodge with a man that is a sinner.

that say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me, for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.

And when they came to the disciples, they saw a great multitude about them, and scribes questioning with them.And straightway all the multitude, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.And he asked them, What question ye with them?
