那天晚上，耶穌對門徒們說：「我們渡到對岸去吧。」

耶穌看出他們要來強迫他做王，就又獨自退到山上去了。

天亮的時候，耶穌出去，走到一個荒僻的地方。眾人尋找他，來到他那裡，想留住他，不讓他離開。但是耶穌對他們說：「我還必須到別的城去傳神國的福音，因為我是為此奉差派的。」

耶穌立刻催促門徒們上船，要他們先往對岸去；這期間，他自己遣散了人群。

大清早，天還沒亮，耶穌就起來，走出去，到一個荒僻的地方，在那裡禱告。西門和那些與他在一起的人去尋找耶穌，找到了，就對他說：「大家都在找你呢！」耶穌對他們說：「我們往別的地方去，到鄰近的鄉村去吧。我也好在那裡傳道，因為我是為此而來的。」
