Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

爾又聞有語古人云、勿背誓、誓必償之於主、

又聞古者有言、毋背誓願、指主而誓願者、必守之、

爾聞有諭古人之言曰、勿妄誓、所誓者、當為主而守之、

爾又聞誡古人之言曰：「毋背誓、誓於主者當踐履之。」

“ Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago,‘ Do not break your oath, but fulfill to the Lord the vows you have made.’

“ Again, you have heard what was said to your people long ago. They were told,‘ Do not break the promises you make to the Lord. Keep your promises to the Lord that you have made.’

“ Again you have heard that it was said to those of old,‘ You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’

“ You have also heard that our ancestors were told,‘ You must not break your vows; you must carry out the vows you make to the Lord.’

“ Again, you have heard that it was said to our ancestors, You must not break your oath, but you must keep your oaths to the Lord.

“ Again, you have heard that the ancients were told,‘ You shall not make false vows, but shall fulfill your vows to the Lord.’

“ Again you have heard that it was said to those of old,‘ You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’

When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.

And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I[ am] the LORD.

When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for[ he hath] no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.Better[ is it] that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it[ was] an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?

That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform;[ even] a freewill offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the LORD thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth.

Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.If a woman also vow a vow unto the LORD, and bind herself by a bond,[ being] in her father’s house in her youth;And her father hear her vow, and her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father shall hold his peace at her: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth; not any of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand: and the LORD shall forgive her, because her father disallowed her.And if she had at all an husband, when she vowed, or uttered ought out of her lips, wherewith she bound her soul;And her husband heard[ it,] and held his peace at her in the day that he heard[ it]: then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.But if her husband disallowed her on the day that he heard[ it]; then he shall make her vow which she vowed, and that which she uttered with her lips, wherewith she bound her soul, of none effect: and the LORD shall forgive her.But every vow of a widow, and of her that is divorced, wherewith they have bound their souls, shall stand against her.And if she vowed in her husband’s house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath;And her husband heard[ it], and held his peace at her,[ and] disallowed her not: then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.But if her husband hath utterly made them void on the day he heard[ them; then] whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the LORD shall forgive her.Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may establish it, or her husband may make it void.But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day; then he establisheth all her vows, or all her bonds, which[ are] upon her: he confirmeth them, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard[ them].But if he shall any ways make them void after that he hath heard[ them]; then he shall bear her iniquity.These[ are] the statutes, which the LORD commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between the father and his daughter,[ being yet] in her youth in her father’s house.

Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:

Woe unto you,[ ye] blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor![ Ye] fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.[ Ye] fools and blind: for whether[ is] greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
