You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices.

Do not do what the people of Egypt do. You used to live there. And do not do what the people of Canaan do. I am bringing you into their land. Do not follow their practices.

You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived, and you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, to which I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their statutes.

So do not act like the people in Egypt, where you used to live, or like the people of Canaan, where I am taking you. You must not imitate their way of life.

你不可跪拜他們的神像，也不可事奉它們，不可作他們所作的，不可模仿他們的行為，卻要把神像完全拆毀，打碎他們的柱像。

我對他們說：你們各人要拋棄你們眼中那些可憎的像，不可因埃及的偶像玷污自己：我是耶和華你們的神。但是他們背叛了我，不肯聽從我；他們各人沒有拋棄他們眼中那些可憎的像，沒有離棄埃及的偶像。“‘那時我說，我要把我的烈怒傾倒在他們身上，在埃及地向他們完全發盡我的怒氣。

我從你們面前逐出的各民族，你們不可隨從他們的風俗；因為他們行了這一切事，所以我厭惡他們。

好叫你們不再隨從人的私慾，只順從神的旨意，在世上度餘下的光陰。因為你們過去隨從教外人的心意，行邪淫、私慾、醉酒、荒宴、狂飲和可憎拜偶像的事，時候已經夠了。他們見你們不再與他們同奔那縱情放蕩的路，就覺得奇怪，毀謗你們。

那時，你要自己謹慎，不可在他們從你的面前被消滅以後，隨從他們的惡俗而陷入網羅，也不可求問他們的神，說：‘這些國的人怎樣事奉他們的神，我也要這樣行。’你不可向耶和華你的神這樣行，因為耶和華恨惡的一切可厭惡的事，他們都向他們的神行了，甚至把自己的兒女用火焚燒，獻給他們的神。

她沒有離棄在埃及時的淫亂；那時她年幼，人與她同睡，撫弄她處女的乳房，把他們的情慾發洩在她身上。

你們不可像他們那樣事奉耶和華你的神。

耶和華這樣說：“你們不要學習列國的行徑，列國因天象驚惶，你們卻不要因這些驚惶。因為萬民所信奉的都是虛空，只是從林中砍下的樹木，是匠人用鑿刀製成的產品。

不要模仿這個世代，倒要藉著心意的更新而改變過來，使你們可以察驗出甚麼是神的旨意，就是察驗出甚麼是美好的、蒙他悅納的和完全的事。

所以，不要與他們同流合污。你們從前是黑暗的，現今在主裡卻是光明的，行事為人就應當像光明的兒女。光明所結的果子，就是一切良善、公義、誠實。你們要察驗甚麼是主所喜悅的。不要參與暗昧無益的事，倒要把它揭露出來，

反而和外族人混居雜處，學習他們的風俗習慣。

“你們不可讓這些事的任何一件玷污自己，因為我將要從你們面前趕出去的各族，就是被這些事玷污了自己。連地也被玷污，所以我追討那地的罪孽，那地就把居民吐出去。所以，你們要謹守我的律例和典章；這一切可憎的事，無論是本地人或是在你們中間寄居的外人，一件都不可作（因為在你們以前住在那地的人，行了這一切可憎的事，就玷污了自己）；免得你們玷污那地，那地就把你們吐出去，像吐出了在你們以前的各民族一樣。無論甚麼人，行了一件這些可憎的事，必從自己的族人中被剪除。所以你們要謹守我的吩咐，免得你們行那些可憎的風俗，就是你們以前的人所行的，玷污了自己。我是耶和華你們的神。”
