你們呢、卻不可躭擱；要追趕仇敵，截擊他們的儘後隊，別容他們進自己的城；因為永恆主你們的上帝已經把他們交在你們手裏。』

你们却不可耽延，要追赶你们的仇敌，击杀他们尽后边的人，不容他们进自己的城邑，因为耶和华你们的神已经把他们交在你们手里。”

你们却不可停留，要追赶你们的仇敌，从后面攻击他们，不让他们进到自己的城镇，因为耶和华—你们的上帝已经把他们交在你们手里。”

爾眾勿緩、追襲爾敵、擊其後軍、勿容入邑、爾上帝耶和華付之於爾手矣、

眾當追敵勿遲、擊其後軍、勿使入邑、蓋爾上帝耶和華付之於爾手。

爾勿遲延、當追爾敵、擊其後軍、不容其入己之城、蓋主爾之天主必付之於爾手、

But don’t stop; pursue your enemies! Attack them from the rear and don’t let them reach their cities, for the Lord your God has given them into your hand.”

我追趕我仇敵，將他們趕上；未滅盡他們、我總不返回。我痛擊了他們，使他們不能起來；他們都仆倒在我腳下。你將氣力給我束腰，使我能爭戰；你使那起來攻擊我的屈身死於我腳下。你使我仇敵向我轉背逃跑，恨我的人、我就剿滅他們。他們呼救，也沒有人拯救；呼求永恆主，永恆主也不應。

因此永恆主從以色列中剪除了頭與尾，就在一日之間、剪除棕枝與燈草——（長老和體面人乃是頭；以虛假指教人的、神言人乃是尾。

『鬆懈懈而作永恆主之工的、必受咒詛；抑制刀劍不去插血的、必受咒詛。

他若收軍退到一座城裏，以色列眾人就要帶繩子去、到城那裏，將城拉到河裏，甚至連一塊小石頭再也找不着。』

約書亞和以色列人大大擊殺了他們，直到將他們滅盡了為止；他們中間存留下來的殘存人都進了堡壘城；

我們為甚麼靜坐不動呢？聚集攏來哦，我們好進入有堡壘的城，在那裏寂滅掉；因為永恆主我們的上帝命定我們寂滅，將毒苦水給我們喝，因為我們犯罪得罪了永恆主。

大衛對亞比篩說：『現在比基利的兒子示巴必加害於我們、比押沙龍更厲害：你要帶領你主上的僕人去追趕他，免得他得了堡壘城，就奪了我們的視線。』
