And it shall be that the tribe which the Lord selects by lot shall come forward by families, and the family which the Lord selects shall come forward by households, and the household which the Lord selects shall come forward man by man.And it shall be that the one who is selected with the things designated for destruction shall be burned with fire, he and all that belongs to him, because he has violated the covenant of the Lord, and because he has committed a disgraceful thing in Israel.’ ”So Joshua got up early in the morning and brought Israel forward by tribes, and the tribe of Judah was selected.So he brought the family of Judah forward, and he selected the family of the Zerahites; then he brought the family of the Zerahites forward man by man, and Zabdi was selected.And he brought his household forward man by man; and Achan, son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, was selected.

Each one helps his neighbor And says to his brother,“ Be strong!”So the craftsman encourages the smelter, And he who smooths metal with the hammer encourages him who beats the anvil, Saying of the soldering,“ It is good”; And he fastens it with nails, So that it will not totter.

So the Lord said to Joshua,“ Stand up! Why is it that you have fallen on your face?

Therefore, Saul said to the Lord, the God of Israel,“ Give a perfect lot.” And Jonathan and Saul were selected by lot, but the people were exonerated.Then Saul said,“ Cast lots between me and my son Jonathan.” And Jonathan was selected by lot.

So Samuel brought all the tribes of Israel forward; and the tribe of Benjamin was selected by lot.Then he brought the tribe of Benjamin forward by its families, and the Matrite family was selected by lot. And Saul the son of Kish was selected by lot; but when they looked for him, he could not be found.

The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision is from the Lord.

But if you do not do so, behold, you have sinned against the Lord, and be sure that your sin will find you out.

And when they had crucified Him, they divided His garments among themselves by casting lots.

Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of human hearts; and then praise will come to each person from God.

So that man did not perish alone in his guilt.’ ”
