At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said,“ I am the bread that came down from heaven.”

Then the Jews there began to complain about Jesus. That was because he said,“ I am the bread that came down from heaven.”

So the Jews grumbled about him, because he said,“ I am the bread that came down from heaven.”

Then the people began to murmur in disagreement because he had said,“ I am the bread that came down from heaven.”

I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever. The bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”At that, the Jews argued among themselves,“ How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

For the bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

I am the bread of life.

This is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the manna your ancestors ate— and they died. The one who eats this bread will live forever.”

Jesus answered them,“ Stop grumbling among yourselves.

But the Pharisees and their scribes were complaining to his disciples,“ Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

And there was a lot of murmuring about him among the crowds. Some were saying,“ He’s a good man.” Others were saying,“ No, on the contrary, he’s deceiving the people.”

And the Pharisees and scribes were complaining,“ This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”

From that moment many of his disciples turned back and no longer accompanied him.

Therefore, when many of his disciples heard this, they said,“ This teaching is hard. Who can accept it?”

These people are discontented grumblers, living according to their desires; their mouths utter arrogant words, flattering people for their own advantage.

All who saw it began to complain,“ He’s gone to stay with a sinful man.”

And don’t grumble as some of them did, and were killed by the destroyer.
