No more of this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.And Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders who had come against Him,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs as you would against a man inciting a revolt?While I was with you daily in the temple, you did not lay hands on Me; but this hour and the power of darkness are yours.”

“ Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus.

And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came accompanied by a large crowd with swords and clubs, who came from the chief priests and elders of the people.Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign previously, saying,“ Whomever I kiss, He is the one; arrest Him.”And immediately Judas went up to Jesus and said,“ Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed Him.But Jesus said to him,“ Friend, do what you have come for.” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and arrested Him.And behold, one of those who were with Jesus reached and drew his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear.Then Jesus* said to him,“ Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword will perish by the sword.Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels?How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?”At that time Jesus said to the crowds,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would against a man inciting a revolt? Every day I used to sit within the temple grounds teaching, and you did not arrest Me.But all this has taken place so that the Scriptures of the prophets will be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left Him and fled.

And during supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him,

Many bulls have surrounded me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.

And immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve,* came up, accompanied by a crowd with swords and clubs who were from the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders.Now he who was betraying Him had given them a signal, saying,“ Whomever I kiss, He is the one; arrest Him and lead Him away under guard.”And after coming, Judas immediately went to Him and* said,“ Rabbi!” and kissed Him.And they laid hands on Him and arrested Him.But one of those who stood by drew his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear.And Jesus said to them,“ Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me, as you would against a man inciting a revolt?Every day I was with you within the temple grounds teaching, and you did not arrest Me; but this has taken place so that the Scriptures will be fulfilled.”And His disciples all left Him and fled.

Lord, how my enemies have increased! Many are rising up against me.Many are saying of my soul,“ There is no salvation for him in God.” Selah

After this, Satan then entered him. Therefore Jesus* said to him,“ What you are doing, do it quickly.”Now none of those reclining at the table knew for what purpose He had said this to him.For some were assuming, since Judas kept the money box, that Jesus was saying to him,“ Buy the things we need for the feast”; or else, that he was to give something to the poor.So after receiving the piece of bread, he left immediately; and it was night.
