Then Pilate came out to them and said,“ What charge do you bring against this man?”

比辣多乃出而問曰：『爾曹控此人何事？』

So Pilate came out to them and asked,“ What charges are you bringing against this man?”

So Pilate went outside to them and said,“ What accusation do you bring against this man?”

So Pilate, the governor, went out to them and asked,“ What is your charge against this man?”

Pilate then went out to them and said,“ What accusation do you bring against this Man?”

Pilate therefore went out unto them, and saith, What accusation bring ye against this man?

So Pilate came outside to them and said,“ What accusation do you bring against this man?”

Then he said,“ Why? What has He done wrong?” But they kept shouting,“ Crucify Him!” all the more.

So Pilate asked Him,“ Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered him,“ You have said it.”And the chief priests began to accuse Him of many things.Then Pilate questioned Him again,“ Are You not answering anything? Look how many things they are accusing You of!”But Jesus still did not answer anything, so Pilate was amazed.

They began to accuse Him, saying,“ We found this man subverting our nation, opposing payment of taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is the Messiah, a King.”So Pilate asked Him,“ Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered him,“ You have said it.”

Wanting to know the charge they were accusing him of, I brought him down before their Sanhedrin.I found out that the accusations were about disputed matters in their law, and that there was no charge that merited death or chains.When I was informed that there was a plot against the man, I sent him to you right away. I also ordered his accusers to state their case against him in your presence.

Now Jesus stood before the governor.“ Are You the King of the Jews?” the governor asked Him. Jesus answered,“ You have said it.”And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He didn’t answer.Then Pilate said to Him,“ Don’t You hear how much they are testifying against You?”But He didn’t answer him on even one charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed.

I answered them that it’s not the Romans’ custom to give any man up before the accused confronts the accusers face to face and has an opportunity to give a defense concerning the charges.
