约翰是用水施洗，但过了不多几天，你们要在圣灵里受洗。”

我是用水给你们施洗，叫你们悔改；但那在我以后来的，能力比我更大，我就是给他提鞋子也不配，他要用圣灵与火给你们施洗。

约翰对众人说：“我是用水给你们施洗，但有一位能力比我更大的要来，我就是给他解鞋带也不配。他要用圣灵与火给你们施洗。

他救了我们，并不是因我们自己所行的义，而是照他的怜悯，藉着重生的洗和圣灵的更新。圣灵就是神藉着我们的救主耶稣基督厚厚地浇灌在我们身上的，

我一开始讲话，圣灵就降在他们身上，正像当初降在我们身上一样。我就想起主的话如何说：‘约翰用水施洗，但你们要在圣灵里受洗。’

我们无论是犹太人是希腊人，是为奴的是自主的，都从一位圣灵受洗成了一个身体，并且共享这位圣灵。

耶稣回答：“我实实在在地告诉你，人若不是从水和圣灵生的，就不能进神的国。

问他们：“你们信的时候领受了圣灵没有？”他们说：“没有，我们连什么是圣灵都没有听过。”保罗说：“这样，你们受的是什么洗呢？”他们说：“是受了约翰的洗。”保罗说：“约翰所施的是悔改的洗礼，他告诉百姓当信那在他以后要来的那位，就是耶稣。”他们听见这话以后，就奉主耶稣的名受洗。保罗给他们按手，圣灵就降在他们身上，他们开始说方言和说预言。

神所差来的说神的话，因为神所赐给他的圣灵是没有限量的。

他宣讲，说：“有一位在我以后来的，能力比我更大，我就是弯腰给他解鞋带也不配。我用水给你们施洗，他却要用圣灵给你们施洗。”

彼得还在说这些话的时候，圣灵降在一切听道的人身上。那些奉割礼的信徒和彼得同来，见圣灵的恩赐也浇在外邦人身上，就都惊奇；因听见他们说方言，称赞神为大。于是彼得回答：“这些人既受了圣灵，跟我们一样，谁能阻止用水给他们施洗呢？”

我先前不认识他，如今我来用水施洗，为要使他显明给以色列人。”

当时，耶稣从加利利来到约旦河，到了约翰那里，请约翰为他施洗。约翰想要阻止他，说：“我应该受你的洗，你怎么到我这里来呢？”耶稣回答他：“暂且这样做吧，因为我们理当这样履行全部的义。”于是约翰就依了他。

他们都被圣灵充满，就按着圣灵所赐的口才说起别国的话来。
