耶和華已經彰顯出我們的義。來吧！我們要在錫安傳揚耶和華－我們神的作為。你們要磨尖箭頭，抓住盾牌。論到巴比倫，耶和華定意要毀滅它，所以激起瑪代君王的心；這是耶和華報仇，為他的聖殿報仇。

願他們口中稱頌神為至高，手裏有兩刃的劍，為要報復列國，懲罰萬民。要用鏈子捆他們的君王，用鐵鐐鎖他們的貴族，要在他們身上施行所記錄的審判。他的聖民都享榮耀。哈利路亞！

他摧毀自己的帳幕如摧毀園子，毀壞自己的會幕。耶和華使節慶和安息日在錫安盡被遺忘，又在極其憤怒中厭棄君王與祭司。耶和華撇棄自己的祭壇，憎惡自己的聖所，把宮殿的牆交給仇敵。他們在耶和華的殿中喧嚷，如在節慶之日一樣。

於是他們把聖殿，就是耶路撒冷神殿中所擄掠的金器皿拿來，王和大臣、王后、妃嬪就用這器皿飲酒。他們飲酒，讚美金、銀、銅、鐵、木、石造的神明。當時，忽然有人的指頭出現，在燈臺對面王宮粉刷的牆上寫字。王看見寫字的指頭，

你們躲避刀劍的要快走，不要站住！要在遠方懷念耶和華，心中追想耶路撒冷。我們聽見辱罵就蒙羞，滿面慚愧，因為外邦人進入耶和華殿的聖所。

「看哪，我要使耶路撒冷成為令四圍列國百姓昏醉的杯；耶路撒冷被圍困，猶大也一樣受困。在那日，我要使耶路撒冷成為萬民的一塊沉重石頭，凡舉起它的必受重傷；地上的萬國都聚集攻擊它。
