But my people would not listen or turn back from their wicked ways. They kept on burning incense to these gods.

因為我知道你剛愎，你脖子是鐵的肌肉，你的額是銅的，

但他們卻不聽從，不傾耳以聽，竟憑着自己的計謀，隨自己頑強之壞心思而行，向後而不向前。

他們卻直戲笑上帝的使者，藐視上帝的話，直譏誚他的神言人，以致永恆主向他人民發烈怒、到無法救治。

『無奈我的人民不聽我的聲音；以色列不理睬我。我就任憑他們心裏頑強，去隨着他們自己的計謀行。啊，只要我人民肯聽我，以色列肯遵行我的道路，

你們列祖卻不肯留心聽從，反而扭轉肩頭，使耳朵沉重而不聽；使心剛硬如金鋼石、不聽從禮節規律和話語、就是萬軍之永恆主用自己的靈所傳達，由從前的神言人經手所發表的；故此有大震怒從萬軍之永恆主那裏發出。

我給了她時間、讓她悔改；她又不願意改悔她的淫亂。看吧，我必將她丟在病床上；那些同她行淫的人若不改悔她的行為，我也必將他們丟在大苦難中。

耶路撒冷的房屋、和猶大列王的宮殿，就是一切房屋，人在那些房頂上向天上萬象燻祭或向別的神澆奠祭的，都必像陀斐特地方一樣地被沾污。」』

他們轉去重犯他們先祖、不肯聽我話的先祖、所犯的罪孽；去隨從而事奉別的神；以色列家和猶大家違犯了我的約，我與他們列祖所立的。

哦，巴不得你素來都留心聽我的命令哦！那麼你的興隆就會像不乾涸的江河，你的勝利就會像海裏的波浪，

他們卻不聽從，不傾耳以聽，竟各隨着自己頑強之壞心思而行；因此我才使這約中一切咒詛的話都臨到他們身上：這約是我吩咐他們行的，他們卻不行。』
