“各国的人经过这城时都会彼此议论说，‘为什么耶和华这样对待这座大城？’

许多国的民要经过这城，各人对邻舍说：‘耶和华为何向这大城如此行呢？’

“许多国的百姓经过这城，就彼此谈论说：‘耶和华为何向这大城这样做呢？’

“许多国的百姓经过这城，就彼此谈论说：‘耶和华为何向这大城这样做呢？’

多国的人必经过这城，彼此发问：‘耶和华为什么这样对待这大城呢？’

「許多國的民要經過這城，各人對鄰舍說：『耶和華為何向這大城如此行呢？』

「許多國的百姓經過這城，就彼此談論說：『耶和華為何向這大城這樣做呢？』

『「必有許多國的人要經過這城，彼此對問說：『永恆主為甚麼這樣罰辦這個大城呢？』

多邦之人經是邑者、將相語曰、耶和華如是待此大邑、何故、

凡鄰國眾庶、經過是邑、互相告語、曰、耶和華罰此大邑、何為至於若斯。

諸國之人、經過是邑、彼此問曰、主何為待此大邑如此、

“ People from many nations will pass by this city and will ask one another,‘ Why has the Lord done such a thing to this great city?’

“ People from many nations will pass by this city. They will ask one another,‘ Why has the Lord done such a thing to this great city?’

“‘ And many nations will pass by this city, and every man will say to his neighbor,“ Why has the Lord dealt thus with this great city?”

“ People from many nations will pass by the ruins of this city and say to one another,‘ Why did the Lord destroy such a great city?’

“ Many nations will pass by this city and ask one another,‘ Why did the LORD do such a thing to this great city?’

“ Many nations will pass by this city; and they will say to one another,‘ Why has the Lord done this to this great city?’

And many nations will pass by this city; and everyone will say to his neighbor,‘ Why has the Lord done so to this great city?’

And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbor, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus unto this great city?

“ Many nations will pass by this city and ask one another,‘ Why did the Lord do such a thing to this great city?’

And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?

“‘ People from other nations will pass by this city. They will ask one another,“ Why has the LORD done such a thing to this great city?”

“ Many nations will pass by this city, and they will each ask his neighbor,‘ Why has Yahweh done this to this great city?’

这殿虽然宏伟，但将来经过的人必惊讶，讥笑说，‘耶和华为什么这样对待这地方和这殿呢？’人们会回答，‘因为他们背弃曾领他们祖先离开埃及的耶和华——他们的上帝，去追随、祭拜、供奉别的神明，所以耶和华把这一切灾祸降在他们身上。’”

我必把你们从我赐给你们的土地上铲除，并离弃我为自己的名而使之圣洁的这殿，使这殿在万民中成为笑柄、被人嘲讽。这殿虽然宏伟，但将来经过的人必惊讶地问，‘耶和华为什么这样对待这地方和这殿呢？’人们会回答，‘因为他们背弃曾领他们祖先离开埃及的耶和华——他们的上帝，去追随、祭拜、供奉别的神明，所以耶和华把这一切灾祸降在他们身上。’”

遍地将是硫磺和盐，无法耕种，寸草不生，如同耶和华盛怒之下毁灭的所多玛、蛾摩拉、押玛和洗扁。万国必问，‘耶和华为什么要这样对待这地方？祂为什么大发烈怒？’必有人回答说，‘因为这地方的人背弃了他们祖先的上帝耶和华领他们出埃及时与他们所立的约，去供奉、祭拜他们所不认识、并非耶和华所分派的神明。

路人都拍掌嘲笑你。他们向耶路撒冷城摇头，嗤笑道：“这就是那被誉为完美无瑕、普世喜悦的城吗？”敌人都幸灾乐祸地讥讽你，他们咬牙切齿地说：“我们吞灭了她！这是我们期待已久的日子！我们终于见到这一天了！”耶和华实现了祂的计划，成就了祂很久以前的应许。祂毫不留情地毁灭了你，使你的仇敌幸灾乐祸，耀武扬威。

主啊，你是公义的，我们今日满面羞愧，我们犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民，以及因对你不忠而被驱散到远近各地的以色列人都满面羞愧。

“当你把这些话告诉他们的时候，他们会质问你，‘耶和华为什么给我们降这大灾难？我们有什么罪？我们哪里得罪了我们的上帝耶和华？’

世上的君王和居民都不相信敌人能闯进耶路撒冷的城门。
