They will sow wheat but reap thorns; they will wear themselves out but gain nothing. They will bear the shame of their harvest because of the Lord’s fierce anger.”

People will plant wheat. But all they will gather is thorns. They will wear themselves out. But they will not have anything to show for it. I am very angry with them. So they will be ashamed of the crop they gather.”

爾雖播種、不能有秋、雖踐橄欖、不得以油沐體、雖釀新酒、不得自飲醇醪、

爾播多穫少、食不果腹、飲不止渴、衣不得暖、工得其金、盛於敝囊。

所種之田、必播之多、而獲之少、被噬於蝗。

我將使爾觳觫、身癆體瘧、以致心憂目盲、播種徒勞、為敵所食。

爾以金市者、不足以果腹、勞而得者、不足以饜心、是誠何故與。爾謹聽我言、可飫嘉肴、可食肥甘、而心悅懌。

爾使列邦之民、屬役良苦、竭力築城、萬有之主耶和華、必使之焚燬殆盡、歸於烏有、

良田荒蕪、城邑傾圮、蓋耶和華涖臨、其怒殊烈。

我既震怒、群羊安棲之地、為我所廢、殘暴者其怒甚烈、譬彼猛獅、出於林藪、邦國以致荒蕪、

乃昔所行者、今日恥之、何益哉、終亦必亡而已、

耶和華曰、悖逆者流、惟設計謀、不仰望予、灌奠以要約、感予神者、弗順從之、其罪益深、禍將及矣、彼不諮諏我意、乃往埃及、藉法老之勢力、望埃及之庇蔭、爾惟法老之勢力是恃、埃及之庇蔭是賴、則必含羞蒙恥、牧伯至鎖安國、使詣哈匿、見二邑之民無益、弗能助理、則愧恧靡已、牲畜輜重、適彼南方、頻更患難、有牝獅猛獅、又有毒蛇、且能飛騰、所有貨財、載於驢肩、負於駝背、以饋於不能益己之民、

是時人至麥堆、望得二十束、惟得十束、人至酒醡、望得五十斗、惟得二十斗、耶和華曰、爾雖勤勞、我使風暴五穀、細弱特甚、雨雹以毀傷之、爾猶不歸誠於我、

禱彼岡巒、俱為徒勞、惟我上帝耶和華拯救以色列族。自昔以來、我之列祖、竭勞而得、牛羊子女、悉為可惡者、吞噬無遺。自古迄今、我之列祖、爰及我躬、獲罪於我之上帝耶和華、不遵其命、故蒙羞恥、一蹶不振。

人往埃及、求其助己、見車馬眾多、驍騎勇猛、則以之是恃、不恃以色列族之聖主耶和華而求其眷祐、其禍必不遠矣、上帝至明、言出惟行、勃然以興、降災於惡人、凡助惡者、亦降罰焉、埃及之眾、人也、非上帝也、所乘之馬、凡馬也、非神馬也、耶和華舉手降罰、輔翼惡人者、皆顛其趾、為惡人所扶持者、咸遭傾覆、淪胥以亡、
