那时，神的约柜在那里；亚伦的孙子、以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈侍立在约柜前。以色列人问耶和华说：“我们当再出去与我们弟兄便雅悯人打仗呢？还是罢兵呢？”耶和华说：“你们当上去，因为明日我必将他们交在你们手中。”

以色列人去求问耶和华；那时，上帝的约柜在那里。

時、上帝約匱在彼、亞倫孫、以利亞撒子非尼哈、侍於其前、

當時上帝之約匱在彼、亞倫孫、以利亞撒子非尼哈立於其前、以色列族問於耶和華曰、我儕復攻同儕便雅憫族、或往乎、或止乎。耶和華曰、往哉、明日我將以之付於爾手。

And the Israelites inquired of the Lord.( In those days the ark of the covenant of God was there,

And the people of Israel inquired of the Lord( for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,

The Israelites went up seeking direction from the Lord.( In those days the Ark of the Covenant of God was in Bethel,

Then the Israelites inquired of the LORD. In those days, the ark of the covenant of God was there,

And the sons of Israel inquired of the Lord( for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,

So the children of Israel inquired of the Lord( the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,

And the children of Israel asked of Jehovah( for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,

Then the Israelites inquired of the Lord. In those days, the ark of the covenant of God was there,

And the children of Israel enquired of the LORD,( for the ark of the covenant of God[ was] there in those days,

The Israelites asked the LORD( for the ark of God’s covenant was there in those days;

The children of Israel asked Yahweh( for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,

以色列全体会众聚集在示罗，把会幕竖立在那里，因为那地在他们面前被征服了。

军队回到营里，以色列的长老说：“今天耶和华为什么在非利士人面前击败我们呢？我们要把耶和华的约柜从示罗抬到我们这里来。约柜一到我们中间，就会拯救我们脱离仇敌的手。”于是他们派人到示罗去，从那里把坐在二基路伯中间万军之耶和华的约柜抬来；以利的两个儿子，何弗尼和非尼哈，也与神的约柜一同来了。

以色列人就起来，上伯特利去求问神，说：“我们之中谁应首先上去，与便雅悯人交战呢？”耶和华说：“犹大应首先上去。”

他丢弃了在示罗的居所，就是他在世人中间居住的帐棚。他又把象征他权能的约柜交给人掳去，把他的荣美交在敌人的手里，

“你们可以到示罗我的地方去，就是先前我名的居所，看看我因我子民以色列的邪恶，对那地方所行的。

看哪！耶和华的手不是缩短了，以致不能拯救；他的耳朵不是不灵，不能听见；

事前，以色列人上伯特利去，在耶和华面前哀哭直到晚上，然后求问耶和华，说：“我们再去与我们的兄弟便雅悯人交战，可以不可以？”耶和华说：“你们可以上去攻打他们。”

他要站在以利亚撒祭司面前，以利亚撒要藉着乌陵的判断，在耶和华面前为他求问；他和以色列众人，就是全体会众，都要按着以利亚撒的命令出入。”
