耶和華要為自己的子民伸冤，為自己的僕人難過，因為耶和華看見他們的能力已經消逝，為奴的或自由的都沒有剩下一人。

你一生的日子必沒有一人能在你面前立得住；我怎樣與摩西同在，也必照樣與你同在；我決不離開你，也不離棄你。

於是，耶和華後悔造人在地上，心中憂傷。

可是他聽到了他們哀叫的時候，就垂顧他們的苦難。他為他們的緣故記念他自己的約，照著他豐盛的慈愛回心轉意。

神聽見他們的呼聲，就記念他與亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所立的約。

夜裡，主藉著異象對保羅說：“不要怕，只管講，不要閉口！有我與你同在，必定沒有人會攻擊和傷害你，因為在這城裡有許多屬我的人。”

神回答：“我必與你同在；你把人民從埃及領出來的時候，你們要在這山上事奉神；這就是我派你去的憑據。”

耶和華啊！要到幾時呢？求你回心轉意，求你憐恤你的僕人。

神看見他們所作的，就是悔改離開惡行，神就轉意，不把所說的災禍降在他們身上了。

“以法蓮啊，我怎能捨棄你！以色列啊，我怎能把你交出來！我怎能對你如同押瑪，待你好像洗扁呢！我的心腸翻轉，我的憐憫發動。

我甚麼時候宣布要拔出、拆毀、毀滅一邦或一國，如果我論到的那一邦轉離他們的惡行，我就必回心轉意，不把我原定的災禍降給他們。同樣，我甚麼時候宣布要建立、栽植一邦或一國，如果他們行我眼中看為惡的事，不聽從我的話，我就必回心轉意，不把我應許的好處賜給他們。

以色列人就從他們中間除去外族人的神，事奉耶和華；耶和華的心因以色列人所受的患難，就很著急。

約哈斯懇求耶和華，耶和華垂聽他的禱告，因為看見了以色列所受的壓迫，就是亞蘭王對他們的壓迫。

耶和華說：“因為困苦人的冤屈和貧窮人的歎息，我現在要起來，把他們安置在他們渴望的穩妥之中。”

約哈斯在位的日子，亞蘭王哈薛一直都欺壓以色列。但耶和華仍然施恩給他們，憐憫他們，眷顧他們，這是因為他與亞伯拉罕、以撒和雅各所立的約，不願意毀滅他們，把他們從自己的面前丟棄，直到今日。
