耶和华要为自己的子民伸冤，为自己的仆人难过，因为耶和华看见他们的能力已经消逝，为奴的或自由的都没有剩下一人。

你一生的日子必没有一人能在你面前立得住；我怎样与摩西同在，也必照样与你同在；我决不离开你，也不离弃你。

于是，耶和华后悔造人在地上，心中忧伤。

可是他听到了他们哀叫的时候，就垂顾他们的苦难。他为他们的缘故记念他自己的约，照着他丰盛的慈爱回心转意。

神听见他们的呼声，就记念他与亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所立的约。

夜里，主藉着异象对保罗说：“不要怕，只管讲，不要闭口！有我与你同在，必定没有人会攻击和伤害你，因为在这城里有许多属我的人。”

神回答：“我必与你同在；你把人民从埃及领出来的时候，你们要在这山上事奉神；这就是我派你去的凭据。”

耶和华啊！要到几时呢？求你回心转意，求你怜恤你的仆人。

神看见他们所作的，就是悔改离开恶行，神就转意，不把所说的灾祸降在他们身上了。

“以法莲啊，我怎能舍弃你！以色列啊，我怎能把你交出来！我怎能对你如同押玛，待你好像洗扁呢！我的心肠翻转，我的怜悯发动。

我什么时候宣布要拔出、拆毁、毁灭一邦或一国，如果我论到的那一邦转离他们的恶行，我就必回心转意，不把我原定的灾祸降给他们。同样，我什么时候宣布要建立、栽植一邦或一国，如果他们行我眼中看为恶的事，不听从我的话，我就必回心转意，不把我应许的好处赐给他们。

以色列人就从他们中间除去外族人的神，事奉耶和华；耶和华的心因以色列人所受的患难，就很着急。

约哈斯恳求耶和华，耶和华垂听他的祷告，因为看见了以色列所受的压迫，就是亚兰王对他们的压迫。

耶和华说：“因为困苦人的冤屈和贫穷人的叹息，我现在要起来，把他们安置在他们渴望的稳妥之中。”

约哈斯在位的日子，亚兰王哈薛一直都欺压以色列。但耶和华仍然施恩给他们，怜悯他们，眷顾他们，这是因为他与亚伯拉罕、以撒和雅各所立的约，不愿意毁灭他们，把他们从自己的面前丢弃，直到今日。
