The Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him so that he tore the lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. But he told neither his father nor his mother what he had done.

在瑣拉和以實陶之間的瑪哈尼‧但，耶和華的靈開始感動參孫。

掃羅聽見這些話，就被神的靈催逼，大發怒氣。

然後他說：「讓我與非利士人一起死吧！」他盡力彎腰，廟宇就倒塌了，壓住領袖和廟宇內的眾人。這樣，參孫死的時候所殺的人比活着所殺的還多。

他回答我說：「這是耶和華指示所羅巴伯的話。萬軍之耶和華說：不是倚靠勢力，不是倚靠才能，乃是倚靠我的靈方能成事。

他找到一塊未乾的驢腮骨，就伸手拾起來，用它殺了一千人。

大衛對掃羅說：「你僕人為父親放羊，有時獅子來了，有時熊來了，從羣中抓走一隻羔羊。我就追趕牠，擊打牠，把羔羊從牠口中救出來。牠起來攻擊我，我就揪牠的鬍子，打死牠。你僕人曾打死獅子和熊，這未受割禮的非利士人必像獅子和熊一樣，因為他向永生神的軍隊罵陣。」大衛又說：「耶和華救我脫離獅子和熊的爪，他必救我脫離這非利士人的手。」掃羅對大衛說：「你去吧！耶和華必與你同在。」

耶和華的靈降在耶弗他身上，他就經過基列和瑪拿西，經過基列的米斯巴，又從基列的米斯巴過到亞捫人那裏。

他不喧嚷，不揚聲，也不使街上聽見他的聲音。

我心裏柔和謙卑，你們當負我的軛，向我學習；這樣，你們的心靈就必得安息。

參孫狠狠擊殺他們，把他們連腿帶腰都砍了。過後，他就下去，住在以坦巖的石洞裏。

今日耶和華必將你交在我手裏。我必殺你，砍下你的頭，今日我要把非利士軍兵的屍體給空中的飛鳥和地上的野獸，使全地的人都知道以色列中有神，
