You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.

你們向來沒有奉我的名求甚麼；現在你們祈求，就必定得著，讓你們的喜樂滿溢。

“你們祈求，就給你們；尋找，就尋見；叩門，就給你們開門。因為凡祈求的就得著，尋找的就尋見，叩門的就給他開門。

你們中間若有人缺少智慧，就當向那厚賜眾人，而且不斥責人的神祈求，他就必得著。

我又告訴你們，你們祈求，就給你們；尋找，就尋見；叩門，就給你們開門。因為所有祈求的就得著，尋找的就尋見，叩門的就給他開門。你們中間作父親的，哪有兒子求魚（較後期的抄本多數作“兒子要餅，卻給他石頭呢？”），反拿蛇當作魚給他呢？或求雞蛋，反給他蠍子呢？你們雖然不好，尚且知道把好東西給自己的兒女，何況天父，豈不更把聖靈賜給求他的人嗎？”

耶穌回答她：“你若知道神的恩賜，和對你說‘請給我水喝’的是誰，你必早已求他，他也必早把活水賜給你了。”

但那些想要發財的人，就落在試探中和陷阱裡；又落在許多無知而有害的私慾裡，使人沉淪在敗壞和滅亡中；因為貪財是萬惡之根。有人貪愛錢財，就被引誘離開真道，用許多痛苦把自己刺透了。

有人孤單無依，沒有兒子，沒有兄弟，仍勞碌不休，眼目也不以自己的財富為足。他問：“我勞勞碌碌，刻薄自己不去享受，是為誰呢？”這也是虛空，是勞苦的擔子。

你們富有的人哪，應當為那將要臨到你們的災禍哭泣哀號。你們的財物朽壞了，你們的衣服給蛀了，你們的金銀生鏽，這鏽要成為控告你們的鐵證，又要像火一樣吞吃你們的肉。你們竟然在這末後的日子積聚財寶。看哪，工人為你們收割莊稼，你們竟然剋扣他們的工資；那工資必為他們呼冤；收割者的呼聲，已經達到萬軍之主的耳中了。你們在世上窮奢極侈，養肥了自己，竟不知屠宰的日子到了。

凡是貪愛不義之財的，所走的路都是這樣；那不義之財奪去了貪財者的性命。

財富（傳統作“酒”，今照死海古卷譯作“財富”）使人奸詐狂傲，不得安寧；擴張慾望，如同陰間；又像死亡，永不滿足。他們招聚萬國，集合萬民，都歸自己。

但亞哈斯說：“我不求，我不試探耶和華。”
