For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.

Zerah the Ethiopian came out against them with an army of a million troops and three hundred chariots, and he came to Mareshah.Then Asa went out to meet him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.Asa cried to Yahweh his God, and said,“ Yahweh, there is no one besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, Yahweh our God; for we rely on you, and in your name are we come against this multitude. Yahweh, you are our God. Don’t let man prevail against you.”So Yahweh struck the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar: and so many of the Ethiopians fell that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before Yahweh and before his army; and they carried away very much booty.They struck all the cities around Gerar; for the fear of Yahweh came on them, and they plundered all the cities; for there was much plunder in them.

I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh; and they will be drunk on their own blood, as with sweet wine. Then all flesh shall know that I, Yahweh, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.”

The wicked is a ransom for the righteous, the treacherous for the upright.

Declare and present it. Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has shown this from ancient time? Who has declared it of old? Haven’t I, Yahweh? There is no other God besides me, a just God and a Savior. There is no one besides me.

You will also drink the milk of the nations, and will nurse from royal breasts. Then you will know that I, Yahweh, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.

Get out of the way. Turn away from the path. Cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.”

to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.

A righteous person is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked takes his place.

Pharaoh’s servants said to him,“ How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the men go, that they may serve Yahweh, their God. Don’t you yet know that Egypt is destroyed?”
