恐懼四面籠罩著他，步步緊追著他。

我聽到這些，就膽戰心驚，嘴唇哆嗦，四肢無力，雙腿發抖。但我仍要靜候災難臨到入侵者的日子。

「人子啊，你要為巴比倫王的刀畫出兩條進攻之路，兩條路要從一個地方出發，要在通往城邑的路口設路標。一條路通往亞捫的拉巴城，一條路通往猶大的堅城耶路撒冷。巴比倫王將站在兩路的岔口，搖籤求問他的神像，察看祭牲的肝。他右手拿到的是攻打耶路撒冷的籤，於是，他用撞城錘來攻耶路撒冷的城門，廝殺吶喊，建壘築臺圍攻城池。猶大人必認為這是虛假的徵兆。他們曾向巴比倫王發誓效忠，但巴比倫王要使他們想起自己的罪，並擄走他們。

對他說：「希西迦說，『今日是遭難、蒙羞、受辱的日子，就像嬰兒要出生，產婦卻無力生產一樣。

看啊，他們的勇士在街上哀號，求和的使者悲痛哭泣。

耶和華對撒母耳說：「我要在以色列做一件令人震驚的事。

「日月星辰必顯出異兆，怒海洶湧、波濤翻騰，令各國驚恐不安。天體必震動，人類想到世界要面臨的事都嚇得魂不附體。

希西迦王執政第十四年，亞述王西拿基立起兵攻取了猶大所有的堅城。

我但以理精疲力盡，病了幾天。後來我起來照常辦理王的事務，但我對這異象感到驚奇不已，不明白它的意思。

所以，以色列的上帝耶和華要在耶路撒冷和猶大降下大災難，凡聽見這事的人都必耳鳴。

「這就是我的夢。我但以理心中十分害怕，臉色蒼白，但我沒有把這事告訴別人。」

你要說，『猶大王和耶路撒冷的居民啊，你們要聽耶和華的話！以色列的上帝——萬軍之耶和華說，看啊，我要在這裡降下災禍，聽見這消息的人都必耳鳴。

於是，宮廷總管以利亞敬、書記舍伯那和史官約亞都撕裂衣服，去向希西迦稟告亞述的將軍說的話。

主耶和華賜我教導的能力，使我知道用什麼話幫助疲乏的人。每天早晨，主喚醒我，叫我像受教者那樣側耳聆聽。

何細亞執政第九年，撒瑪利亞淪陷。亞述王把以色列人擄到亞述，安置在哈臘、歌散的哈博河一帶以及瑪代人的各城。

耶和華差遣迦勒底人、亞蘭人、摩押人和亞捫人來攻打約雅敬，毀滅猶大，正如祂藉著祂的僕人——眾先知所說的。

耶和華說：「亞述王有禍了！他是我的憤怒之棍，他手中拿著我發烈怒的杖。我要差遣他去攻打一個不虔敬的國家，一個惹我發怒的民族，去搶奪、擄掠他們的財物，像踐踏街上的泥土一樣踐踏他們。
