以色列的兒子們就照樣作了。約瑟照著法老所吩咐的，給了他們一些車輛和路上用的食物。

現在我再吩咐你對他們說：‘你們要這樣作：從埃及地帶些車輛回去，用來接你們的孩子和妻子，並且把你們的父親接來。

他們就把約瑟對他們所說的一切話，都告訴了他。他們的父親雅各看見了約瑟派來接他的車輛，心才甦醒過來。

法老就把摩西召了來，說：“你們去事奉耶和華吧，你們的孩子也可以與你們同去；只是要把你們的羊群和牛群留下來。”

我們的牲畜也要與我們同去，連一隻也不留下；因為我們要從牠們當中取出一些來事奉耶和華我們的神；我們沒有到達之前，還不知道要用甚麼事奉耶和華。”

於是雅各下了埃及。後來他和我們祖先都死了，

於是雅各起來，叫他的兒女和妻子們都騎上駱駝。又趕著他所有的牲畜，帶著他所得的一切財物，就是他在巴旦．亞蘭所得的一切牲畜，要到迦南地，他父親以撒那裡去。
