He instructed them:“ This is what you are to say to my lord Esau:‘ Your servant Jacob says, I have been staying with Laban and have remained there till now.

Jacob told the messengers what to do. He said,“ Here’s what you must tell my master Esau.‘ Your servant Jacob says,“ I’ve been staying with Laban. I’ve remained there until now.

instructing them,“ Thus you shall say to my lord Esau: Thus says your servant Jacob,‘ I have sojourned with Laban and stayed until now.

He told them,“ Give this message to my master Esau:‘ Humble greetings from your servant Jacob. Until now I have been living with Uncle Laban,

He commanded them,“ You are to say to my lord Esau,‘ This is what your servant Jacob says. I have been staying with Laban and have been delayed until now.

因為凡自高的，必降為卑；自甘卑微的，必升為高。」

回答柔和，使怒消退；言語粗暴，觸動怒氣。

你就說：『是你僕人雅各的，是送給我主以掃的禮物。看哪，他自己也在我們後面。』」

就如撒拉聽從亞伯拉罕，稱他為主。你們只要行善，不怕任何恐嚇，就成為撒拉的女兒了。

於是他們腰束麻布，頭套繩索，來到以色列王那裏，說：「王的僕人便‧哈達說：『求王饒我一命。』」亞哈說：「他還活着嗎？他是我的兄弟。」

「我主請聽。你在我們中間是一位尊貴的王子，只管在我們最好的墳地裏埋葬你的死人；我們沒有一人會拒絕你在他的墳地裏埋葬你的死人。」

以掃說：「我所遇見的這些畜羣是甚麼意思呢？」雅各說：「是為了要在我主眼前蒙恩。」

掃羅認出大衛的聲音，就說：「我兒大衛，這是你的聲音嗎？」大衛說：「我主我王啊，是我的聲音。」

掌權者的怒氣若向你發作，不要離開你的本位，因為鎮定能平息大過。

以撒回答以掃說：「看哪，我已立他作你的主，使他的弟兄都給他作僕人，並賜他五穀新酒可以養生。我兒，那麼，現在我還能為你做甚麼呢？」

你若做得對，豈不仰起頭來嗎？你若做得不對，罪就伏在門前。它想要控制你，你卻要制伏它。」

願萬民事奉你，萬族向你下拜。願你作你弟兄的主，你母親的兒子向你下拜。詛咒你的，願他受詛咒；祝福你的，願他蒙祝福。」

我兒啊，你既落在朋友手中，當這樣行才可救自己：你要謙卑自己，去懇求你的朋友。

亞倫說：「求我主不要發烈怒。你知道這百姓，他們是向惡的。

我有牛、驢、羊羣、奴僕、婢女，現在派人來報告我主，為了要在你眼前蒙恩。』」
