撒拉見埃及人夏甲給亞伯拉罕生的兒子以實瑪利嘲笑以撒，

弟兄姊妹，如果我仍舊主張行割禮，怎麼還會受迫害呢？如果是那樣，十字架冒犯人的地方就被消除了。

你們若隨從罪惡本性活著，必定死亡；但若靠著聖靈除去身體的惡行，就必活著。

「看啊，我派先知、智者和律法教師到你們當中，有的會遭到你們的殺害，被你們釘在十字架上；有的會在會堂裡被你們鞭打，被你們從這城追到那城。因此，所有義人在地上所流的血，就是從義人亞伯的血，直到你們在聖所和祭壇之間所殺的巴拉加的兒子撒加利亞的血，都要歸到你們身上。我實在告訴你們，這一切的罪責都要歸到這個世代。「耶路撒冷啊！耶路撒冷啊！你常殺害先知，又用石頭打死派到你那裡的使者。我多次想要招聚你的兒女，像母雞將小雞聚集在翅膀底下，可是你們卻不肯。

父怎樣愛我，我也怎樣愛你們。你們要常在我的愛中。

耶穌說：「我實實在在地告訴你，人如果不是從水和聖靈生的，就不能進上帝的國。

弟兄姊妹，你們的遭遇和猶太地區基督耶穌的眾教會的遭遇一樣。你們受到了自己同胞的迫害，他們也受到了猶太人的迫害。這些猶太人殺死了主耶穌和眾先知，又迫害我們。他們不但冒犯上帝，還與所有的人為敵，

有時候，你們在眾目睽睽之下被辱駡，受迫害；有時候，你們和遭受這樣苦難的人同舟共濟。你們體恤那些坐牢的人，即使你們的家業被搶奪，仍然甘心忍受，因為你們知道自己有更美的、永遠長存的家業。

婢女的兒子是按著人的意願生的，主母的兒子是按著上帝的應許生的。

因此，如今那些在基督耶穌裡的人不被定罪，

那些勉強你們接受割禮的人只不過是做表面工夫，想討好別人，避免為基督的十字架受迫害。那些接受割禮的人自己也不能遵行律法。他們要你們接受割禮，無非是想藉著你們的肉體誇耀。至於我自己，我絕不誇耀別的，只誇耀我們主耶穌基督的十字架。因為對我來說，世上的一切都已經被釘在十字架上；對這世界來說，我已經被釘在十字架上。
