亞哈斯派使者到亞述王提革拉‧毗列色那裏，說：「我是你的僕人，你的兒子。現在亞蘭王和以色列王攻擊我，求你上來，救我脫離他們的手。」亞哈斯將耶和華殿裏和王宮府庫裏所有的金銀都送給亞述王為禮物。亞述王答應了他，上去攻打大馬士革，攻下了城，殺了利汛，把居民擄到吉珥。亞哈斯王到大馬士革迎接亞述王提革拉‧毗列色，在大馬士革看見一座壇。亞哈斯王把壇的規模和樣式，以及作法的細節，送到烏利亞祭司那裏。烏利亞祭司照着亞哈斯王從大馬士革所送來的一切，在亞哈斯王還未從大馬士革回來之前，築了一座壇。王從大馬士革回來，看見壇，走近壇前，在壇上獻祭。他燒燔祭和素祭，獻澆酒祭，將平安祭牲的血灑在壇上。他移動耶和華面前的銅壇，從殿的前面，新壇和耶和華殿的中間，搬到新壇的北邊。亞哈斯王吩咐烏利亞祭司說：「早晨的燔祭、晚上的素祭，王的燔祭、素祭，國內眾百姓的燔祭、素祭、澆酒祭都要燒在大壇上。燔祭牲和其他祭牲的血全都要灑在這壇上。至於銅壇，我要作求問之用。」

有巴比倫人、迦勒底眾人、比割人、書亞人、哥亞人，還有亞述眾人與他們一起，都是俊美的年輕人。他們是省長、副省長、將軍、有名聲的，全都騎着馬。

你尚且不滿意，又與亞述人行淫，但與他們行淫之後，仍不滿足；

那時，亞哈斯王派人去求亞述諸王來幫助他，因為以東人又來攻擊猶大，擄掠俘虜。非利士人也來侵佔謝非拉和猶大的尼革夫的城鎮，攻取了伯‧示麥、亞雅崙、基低羅、梭哥和所屬的鄉鎮、亭拿和所屬的鄉鎮、瑾鎖和所屬的鄉鎮，就住在那裏。因為以色列王亞哈斯在猶大放肆，大大干犯耶和華，所以耶和華使猶大卑微。亞述王提革拉‧毗列色來攻擊他，不幫助他，反倒欺負他。亞哈斯從耶和華殿裏和王宮中，以及眾領袖家中取財寶送給亞述王，也無濟於事。這亞哈斯王在急難的時候，越發得罪耶和華。他向那攻擊他的大馬士革的神明獻祭，說：「因為亞蘭王的神明幫助他們，我也要向這些神明獻祭，好讓它們幫助我。」但那些神明卻使他和全以色列敗亡。

「阿荷拉歸我之後卻仍行淫，戀慕所愛的人，就是亞述人，都是戰士，穿着藍衣，作省長、副省長，全都是俊美的年輕人，騎着馬的騎士。
