爾見其所為、知我降災、非出無因、則爾怨悉平、我耶和華已言之矣。

爾見其舉止行為、則使爾覺安慰、爾曹則知我凡所行於耶路撒冷者、並非無故、此乃主天主所言、

You will be consoled when you see their conduct and their actions, for you will know that I have done nothing in it without cause, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

You will be comforted when you see how they act and the way they live. Then you will know that I did not do anything there without a reason,” announces the Lord and King.

When you meet them and see their behavior, you will understand that these things are not being done to Israel without cause. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!”

Therefore the Lord has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us, for the Lord our God is righteous in all the works that he has done, and we have not obeyed his voice.

And he said to me,“ Son of man, do you see what they are doing, the great abominations that the house of Israel are committing here, to drive me far from my sanctuary? But you will see still greater abominations.”And he brought me to the entrance of the court, and when I looked, behold, there was a hole in the wall.Then he said to me,“ Son of man, dig in the wall.” So I dug in the wall, and behold, there was an entrance.And he said to me,“ Go in, and see the vile abominations that they are committing here.”So I went in and saw. And there, engraved on the wall all around, was every form of creeping things and loathsome beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel.And before them stood seventy men of the elders of the house of Israel, with Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan standing among them. Each had his censer in his hand, and the smoke of the cloud of incense went up.Then he said to me,“ Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each in his room of pictures? For they say,‘ The Lord does not see us, the Lord has forsaken the land.’”He said also to me,“ You will see still greater abominations that they commit.”Then he brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the house of the Lord, and behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz.Then he said to me,“ Have you seen this, O son of man? You will see still greater abominations than these.”And he brought me into the inner court of the house of the Lord. And behold, at the entrance of the temple of the Lord, between the porch and the altar, were about twenty-five men, with their backs to the temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east, worshiping the sun toward the east.Then he said to me,“ Have you seen this, O son of man? Is it too light a thing for the house of Judah to commit the abominations that they commit here, that they should fill the land with violence and provoke me still further to anger? Behold, they put the branch to their nose.Therefore I will act in wrath. My eye will not spare, nor will I have pity. And though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.”

For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. It is what they deserve!”

To you, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, those who are near and those who are far away, in all the lands to which you have driven them, because of the treachery that they have committed against you.

Like a sparrow in its flitting, like a swallow in its flying, a curse that is causeless does not alight.

And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.

So the men turned from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the Lord.Then Abraham drew near and said,“ Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked?Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city. Will you then sweep away the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it?Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteous to death with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?”And the Lord said,“ If I find at Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”Abraham answered and said,“ Behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes.Suppose five of the fifty righteous are lacking. Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?” And he said,“ I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there.”Again he spoke to him and said,“ Suppose forty are found there.” He answered,“ For the sake of forty I will not do it.”Then he said,“ Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak. Suppose thirty are found there.” He answered,“ I will not do it, if I find thirty there.”He said,“ Behold, I have undertaken to speak to the Lord. Suppose twenty are found there.” He answered,“ For the sake of twenty I will not destroy it.”Then he said,“ Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again but this once. Suppose ten are found there.” He answered,“ For the sake of ten I will not destroy it.”And the Lord went his way, when he had finished speaking to Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place.

Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?The children gather wood, the fathers kindle fire, and the women knead dough, to make cakes for the queen of heaven. And they pour out drink offerings to other gods, to provoke me to anger.Is it I whom they provoke? declares the Lord. Is it not themselves, to their own shame?Therefore thus says the Lord God: behold, my anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place, upon man and beast, upon the trees of the field and the fruit of the ground; it will burn and not be quenched.”Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel:“ Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices, and eat the flesh.For in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, I did not speak to your fathers or command them concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices.But this command I gave them:‘ Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’But they did not obey or incline their ear, but walked in their own counsels and the stubbornness of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.From the day that your fathers came out of the land of Egypt to this day, I have persistently sent all my servants the prophets to them, day after day.Yet they did not listen to me or incline their ear, but stiffened their neck. They did worse than their fathers.“ So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You shall call to them, but they will not answer you.And you shall say to them,‘ This is the nation that did not obey the voice of the Lord their God, and did not accept discipline; truth has perished; it is cut off from their lips.

But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.
