亞倫的兒子以利亞撒也死了；以色列人就把他埋葬在基比亞，就是他兒子非尼哈在以法蓮山地所得的產業。

亞倫祭司的孫子、以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈看見了，就從會眾中起來，手裡拿著槍，跟著那以色列人，進入臥室，把他們兩人刺透，就是刺透那以色列人和那女子。槍刺進了那女子的肚腹。這樣，在以色列人中的瘟疫才止住。那時因瘟疫而死的，共有二萬四千人。耶和華對摩西說：“亞倫祭司的孫子、以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈，使我的烈怒稍消，不向以色列人發作，因為他在他們中間以我忌邪的心為心，使我不因我忌邪的心把他們消滅。因此你要說：‘現在我把平安之約賜給他，要給他和他的後裔作為永遠擔當祭司職分的約，因為他為他的神有忌邪的心，為以色列人贖罪。’”

以色列人派以利亞撒祭司的兒子非尼哈，到基列地去見流本人、迦得人和瑪拿西半個支派的人；

以利亞撒祭司的兒子非尼哈對流本人、迦得人和瑪拿西人說：“今天我們知道耶和華是在我們中間的，因為你們並沒有對耶和華不忠；現在你們已經救了以色列人脫離耶和華的手。”以利亞撒祭司的兒子非尼哈和眾領袖離開了流本人和迦得人，從基列地回到迦南地以色列人那裡，把這事向他們報告。

那時非尼哈站起來，執行刑罰，瘟疫才止息。這就算為他的義，世世代代直到永遠。

摩西就打發每支派的一千人去打仗，並且派遣以利亞撒祭司的兒子非尼哈與他們一同去，非尼哈手裡拿著聖所的器皿和吹大聲的號筒。

那時，亞倫的孫子、以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈，侍立在約櫃前供職。以色列人求問耶和華，說：“我們應再出去與我們的兄弟便雅憫人交戰呢？還是休戰呢？”耶和華說：“你們應上去，因為明天我必把他們交在你們手中。”
