Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said,“ This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

Then Moses took the blood from the basins and splattered it over the people, declaring,“ Look, this blood confirms the covenant the Lord has made with you in giving you these instructions.”

因為公牛和山羊的血根本不能除去人的罪。所以，基督來到世上的時候曾說：「上帝啊，祭物和供物非你所悅，你為我預備了身體。

摩西把祭牲的血一半放在盆裡，一半灑在壇上。

我要在你們身上灑清水潔淨你們，洗淨你們所有的污穢，除掉你們心中一切的偶像。

晚餐後，祂又照樣拿起杯來，說，「這杯是用我的血立的新約。你們每逢喝的時候，要這樣做，為的是紀念我。」

這是我為萬人所流的立約之血，為了使罪得到赦免。

願賜平安的上帝，就是那位憑著立永恆之約的血使群羊的大牧人——我主耶穌從死裡復活的上帝，

耶穌說：「這是我為萬人所流的立約之血。

你們蒙揀選是按照父上帝預先定好的旨意，藉著聖靈得以聖潔，好順服耶穌基督，並靠祂的血得到潔淨。願上帝賜給你們豐豐富富的恩典和平安！

飯後，祂又舉起杯來，說：「這杯是用我的血立的新約，這血是為你們流的。

錫安啊，因為我用血跟你立了約，我必將你中間被擄的人從無水之坑釋放出來。

祂必洗淨許多國家，君王必因祂而閉口無言。因為他們將看見未曾聽過的事，明白聞所未聞的事。

摩西拿了一些膏油和壇上的血，灑在亞倫和他的衣服上，也灑在他兒子們和他們的衣服上，使亞倫父子們和他們的衣服聖潔。

我們藉著祂愛子的血蒙救贖，過犯得到赦免，這都是出於祂的洪恩。

正因如此，連立舊約也需要用血才能生效。摩西依照律法向猶太人頒佈所有誡命之後，便用紅色的羊毛和牛膝草蘸了牛犢和山羊的血以及水，灑在律法書和百姓身上，說：「這是上帝用來與你們立約的血。」他又照樣把血灑在聖幕和所有用來獻祭的器具上。
