惟后至王前哀告、王降詔以哈曼謀害猶大人之惡、歸於其首、又命將哈曼及其眾子懸於木、

But when the plot came to the king’s attention, he issued written orders that the evil scheme Haman had devised against the Jews should come back onto his own head, and that he and his sons should be impaled on poles.

But the king had found out about Haman’s evil plan. So the king had sent out written orders. He had ordered that Haman’s evil plan against the Jews should happen to him instead. The king also commanded that poles be stuck through the dead bodies of Haman and his sons. Then they should be set up where everyone could see them.

But when it came before the king, he gave orders in writing that his evil plan that he had devised against the Jews should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

But when Esther came before the king, he issued a decree causing Haman’s evil plot to backfire, and Haman and his sons were impaled on a sharpened pole.

以斯帖就說：「如果王認為好，就請王允許蘇薩的猶太人明天也照著今天的法令去做，並且把哈曼的十個兒子掛在木架上。」王就下令如此做了。於是這法令在蘇薩頒布，人們把哈曼的十個兒子掛了起來。

那跌落在這石頭上的人，就將被破碎；這石頭落在誰的身上，就會把誰砸得稀爛。」

至於那些圍困我的人，願他們嘴唇的禍患遮蓋自己的頭；

他喜愛詛咒人，詛咒就臨到他；他不喜歡祝福人，祝福就遠離他。他把詛咒當作衣袍穿上，所以詛咒像水那樣進到他裡面，像油那樣進到他的骨頭裡。

願惡人都落在自己的網羅裡，而我卻安然經過。

亞哈隨魯王就問王后以斯帖說：「那膽敢這樣做的人是誰？那人在哪裡？」以斯帖說：「那敵人、那仇敵，就是這惡人哈曼！」哈曼就在王和王后面前驚惶失措。王在怒火中從酒席起身，到宮室庭園去；哈曼卻留在那裡，求王后以斯帖救他的命，因為他看到王已經決意要把禍患加在他身上。王從宮室庭園回到酒席廳，哈曼正伏在以斯帖所靠的床榻上；王就說：「這個人竟敢在宮殿裡，在我面前汙辱王后！」這話從王的口一出，人們就蒙住了哈曼的臉。那時，在王面前的一個太監哈波納說：「看哪，哈曼為那報信救王的末迪凱做了一個木架，立在哈曼家裡，高五十肘！」王就說：「把哈曼掛在上面！」於是人就把哈曼掛在他為末迪凱所預備的木架上。王的怒火這才平息了。當天，亞哈隨魯王把猶太人的敵人哈曼的家交給了王后以斯帖。末迪凱也來到王的面前，因為以斯帖已經把末迪凱與她的關係告訴了王。王取下自己的印戒，就是他從哈曼那裡收回的，把它交給了末迪凱；以斯帖也安排末迪凱管理哈曼的家。以斯帖再次到王面前求告，俯伏在王的腳前哭泣，懇求王廢掉亞甲人哈曼的惡謀和他針對猶太人所謀劃的計策。王向以斯帖伸出金杖，以斯帖就起身，站在王的面前。她說：「如果王認為好，如果我在王面前蒙恩，如果這事在王面前合宜，如果我在王眼前蒙喜悅，就請王下旨撤回亞甲人哈米達塔的兒子哈曼所謀設的詔書，就是他寫下要消滅王各省中猶太人的那詔書。我怎麼能看著我的民族遭受這災禍呢？怎麼能看著我的宗族滅亡呢？」亞哈隨魯王就對王后以斯帖和猶太人末迪凱說：「看哪！我已經把哈曼的家交給以斯帖，人們也把哈曼掛在木架上了，因為他要對猶太人下手。你們就照著你們眼中看為好的，以王的名義給猶太人下旨，用王的印戒封印吧；因為以王的名義下旨、用王的印戒封印的文書是不能撤回的。」那時是三月（西彎月）二十三日，王的書記們被召來，照著末迪凱所吩咐的一切，給猶太人下旨，也給從印度到庫實一百二十七個省的行政官、省長和各省的首領下旨，用各省的文字給各個省，用各民族的語言給各個民族，用猶太人的文字和語言給猶太人。末迪凱以亞哈隨魯王的名義下旨，用王的印戒封印，藉著騎馬的信使們把詔書傳送出去；他們騎的是御用的快馬，都是良種的賽馬。在詔書中，王允許各個城市的猶太人，在亞哈隨魯王各省中，在十二月（亞達月）十三日，一天之內，聚集起來，保護自己的性命，除滅、擊殺、消滅所有攻擊猶太人的各族各省的武裝力量，甚至他們的孩童和婦女，並且掠奪他們的財物。
