His wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him,“ Have a pole set up, reaching to a height of fifty cubits, and ask the king in the morning to have Mordecai impaled on it. Then go with the king to the banquet and enjoy yourself.” This suggestion delighted Haman, and he had the pole set up.

Haman’s wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him,“ Get a pole. In the morning, ask the king to have Mordecai put to death. Have the pole stuck through his body. Set it up at a place where it will be 75 feet above the ground. Everyone will be able to see it there. Then go to the feast with the king. Have a good time.” Haman was delighted with that suggestion. So he got the pole ready.

Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him,“ Let a gallows fifty cubits high be made, and in the morning tell the king to have Mordecai hanged upon it. Then go joyfully with the king to the feast.” This idea pleased Haman, and he had the gallows made.

So Haman’s wife, Zeresh, and all his friends suggested,“ Set up a sharpened pole that stands seventy five feet tall, and in the morning ask the king to impale Mordecai on it. When this is done, you can go on your merry way to the banquet with the king.” This pleased Haman, and he ordered the pole set up.

His wife Zeresh and all his friends told him,“ Have them build a gallows seventy-five feet tall. Ask the king in the morning to hang Mordecai on it. Then go to the banquet with the king and enjoy yourself.” The advice pleased Haman, so he had the gallows constructed.

Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him,“ Have a wooden gallows fifty cubits high made, and in the morning ask the king to have Mordecai hanged on it; then go joyfully with the king to the banquet.” And the advice pleased Haman, so he had the wooden gallows made.

Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him,“ Let a gallows be made, fifty cubits high, and in the morning suggest to the king that Mordecai be hanged on it; then go merrily with the king to the banquet.” And the thing pleased Haman; so he had the gallows made.

Then said Zeresh his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made fifty cubits high, and in the morning speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merrily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made.

王說：「誰在院子裏？」（那時哈曼正進王宮的外院，要求王將末底改掛在他所預備的木架上。）

惡人已經弓上弦，刀出鞘，要打倒困苦窮乏的人，要殺害行動正直的人。

惡人窺探義人，想要殺他。

王后耶洗別對亞哈說：「你現在是治理以色列國不是？只管起來，心裏暢暢快快地吃飯，我必將耶斯列人拿伯的葡萄園給你。」

伺候王的一個太監名叫哈波拿，說：「哈曼為那救王有功的末底改做了五丈高的木架，現今立在哈曼家裏。」王說：「把哈曼掛在其上。」於是人將哈曼掛在他為末底改所預備的木架上。王的忿怒這才止息。

他也預備了殺人的器械；他所射的是火箭。試看惡人因奸惡而劬勞，所懷的是毒害，所生的是虛假。他掘了坑，又挖深了，竟掉在自己所挖的阱裏。他的毒害必臨到他自己的頭上；他的強暴必落到他自己的腦袋上。

住在地上的人就為他們歡喜快樂，互相餽送禮物，因這兩位先知曾叫住在地上的人受痛苦。

十二門徒之中，有一個加略人猶大去見祭司長，要把耶穌交給他們。他們聽見就歡喜，又應許給他銀子；他就尋思如何得便把耶穌交給他們。

你們躺臥在象牙牀上，舒身在榻上，吃羣中的羊羔，棚裏的牛犢；彈琴鼓瑟唱消閑的歌曲，為自己製造樂器，如同大衛所造的；以大碗喝酒，用上等的油抹身，卻不為約瑟的苦難擔憂。

他們來見祭司長和長老，說：「我們已經起了一個大誓，若不先殺保羅就不吃甚麼。現在你們和公會要知會千夫長，叫他帶下保羅到你們這裏來，假作要詳細察考他的事；我們已經預備好了，不等他來到跟前就殺他。」

這等人若不行惡，不得睡覺；不使人跌倒，睡臥不安；

亞希多弗對押沙龍說：「你父所留下看守宮殿的妃嬪，你可以與她們親近。以色列眾人聽見你父親憎惡你，凡歸順你人的手就更堅強。」於是人為押沙龍在宮殿的平頂上支搭帳棚；押沙龍在以色列眾人眼前，與他父的妃嬪親近。那時亞希多弗所出的主意好像人問神的話一樣；他昔日給大衛，今日給押沙龍所出的主意，都是這樣。亞希多弗又對押沙龍說：「求你准我挑選一萬二千人，今夜我就起身追趕大衛，趁他疲乏手軟，我忽然追上他，使他驚惶；跟隨他的民必都逃跑，我就單殺王一人，使眾民都歸順你。你所尋找的人既然死了，眾民就如已經歸順你；這樣，也都平安無事了。」押沙龍和以色列的長老都以這話為美。

於是希羅底懷恨他，想要殺他，只是不能；因為希律知道約翰是義人，是聖人，所以敬畏他，保護他，聽他講論，就多照着行，並且樂意聽他。有一天，恰巧是希律的生日，希律擺設筵席，請了大臣和千夫長，並加利利作首領的。希羅底的女兒進來跳舞，使希律和同席的人都歡喜。王就對女子說：「你隨意向我求甚麼，我必給你。」又對她起誓說：「隨你向我求甚麼，就是我國的一半，我也必給你。」她就出去對她母親說：「我可以求甚麼呢？」她母親說：「施洗約翰的頭。」

暗嫩有一個朋友，名叫約拿達，是大衛長兄示米亞的兒子。這約拿達為人極其狡猾；他問暗嫩說：「王的兒子啊，為何一天比一天瘦弱呢？請你告訴我。」暗嫩回答說：「我愛我兄弟押沙龍的妹子她瑪。」約拿達說：「你不如躺在牀上裝病；你父親來看你，就對他說：『求父叫我妹子她瑪來，在我眼前預備食物，遞給我吃，使我看見，好從她手裏接過來吃。』」

從來沒有像亞哈的，因他自賣，行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，受了王后耶洗別的聳動；

他們雖知道神判定行這樣事的人是當死的，然而他們不但自己去行，還喜歡別人去行。

外邦人陷在自己所掘的坑中；他們的腳在自己暗設的網羅裏纏住了。

這些人埋伏，是為自流己血；蹲伏，是為自害己命。

殺人流血，他們的腳飛跑，

哈曼對亞哈隨魯王說：「有一種民散居在王國各省的民中；他們的律例與萬民的律例不同，也不守王的律例，所以容留他們與王無益。王若以為美，請下旨意滅絕他們；我就捐一萬他連得銀子交給掌管國帑的人，納入王的府庫。」於是王從自己手上摘下戒指給猶大人的仇敵－亞甲族哈米大他的兒子哈曼。王對哈曼說：「這銀子仍賜給你，這民也交給你，你可以隨意待他們。」正月十三日，就召了王的書記來，照着哈曼一切所吩咐的，用各省的文字、各族的方言，奉亞哈隨魯王的名寫旨意，傳與總督和各省的省長，並各族的首領；又用王的戒指蓋印，交給驛卒傳到王的各省，吩咐將猶大人，無論老少婦女孩子，在一日之間，十二月，就是亞達月十三日，全然剪除，殺戮滅絕，並奪他們的財為掠物。抄錄這旨意，頒行各省，宣告各族，使他們預備等候那日。驛卒奉王命急忙起行，旨意也傳遍書珊城。王同哈曼坐下飲酒，書珊城的民卻都慌亂。

亞哈謝也行亞哈家的道；因為他母親給他主謀，使他行惡。他行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，像亞哈家一樣；因他父親死後有亞哈家的人給他主謀，以致敗壞。
