人如果生下百子，活了許多歲數，年日長久，但是心裡不因美物滿足，又得不到安葬，我以為流產的胎比他還好。

人若生一百个儿子，活许多岁数，以致他的年日甚多，心里却不得满享福乐，又不得埋葬；据我说，那不到期而落的胎比他倒好。

人苟生百子、享壽高、歷年久、而心不得享福、身不獲安葬、我謂未盈期而生者、較彼尤愈、

人有百子、又獲遐齡、生不能享福、死不得善葬、以我觀之、胎未成人者、較彼愈美。

設人生百子、又享遐齡、在世之年日甚多、而不得享所有以為福、死後亦不得安葬、以我觀之、以我觀之原文作我則曰胎死者較彼尤美、

A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

A man might have a hundred children. He might live a long time. But suppose he can’t enjoy his wealth. And suppose he isn’t buried in the proper way. Then it doesn’t matter how long he lives. I’m telling you that a baby that is born dead is better off than that man is.

If a man fathers a hundred children and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not satisfied with life’s good things, and he also has no burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

A man might have a hundred children and live to be very old. But if he finds no satisfaction in life and doesn’t even get a decent burial, it would have been better for him to be born dead.

A man may father a hundred children and live many years. No matter how long he lives, if he is not satisfied by good things and does not even have a proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

我為甚麼不像暗中流產的胎，未見天日的嬰孩，歸於無有呢？

那還沒生下來的，就是還沒看過日光之下所行的惡事的，比這兩種人更有福。

他像驢子一樣被埋葬，被拖走，拋在耶路撒冷城門外。”

於是他們去收殮她，卻找不到她的屍體，只找到頭骨、雙腳和雙掌。

雅各回答法老：“我寄居在世的年日是一百三十歲。我一生的年日又少又苦，不及我祖先寄居在世的年日。”

但你要從你的墳墓中被逐出，好像一根被厭棄的樹枝，你被那些遭刀劍所殺的人掩蓋，就是那些被拋到坑中石頭那裡的人。你就像一具遭人踐踏的屍體。你必不得與別的君王同葬，因為你敗壞了你的國，殺戮了你的人民；願那些惡人的後裔永遠不被人提說。

以利給以利加拿和他的妻子祝福，說：“願耶和華從這婦人身上還給你後裔，代替你獻給耶和華的孩子。”他們就回自己的地方去了。耶和華眷顧哈拿，她再懷孕，先後生了三個兒子和兩個女兒。那孩子撒母耳在耶和華面前，漸漸長大。

以掃舉目觀看，看見婦人和孩子，就問：“這些與你同來的人是誰？”雅各回答：“是神賜給你僕人的孩子。”

王就下令這樣行；諭旨傳遍書珊，人就把哈曼的十個兒子掛在木架上。亞達月十四日，在書珊的猶大人又聚集起來，在書珊殺了三百人，卻沒有下手掠奪他們的財物。

拋散在太陽、月亮和天上的萬象之下，就是他們從前所愛慕、服事、跟隨、求問、敬拜的。這些骸骨必不再被收殮埋葬，必在地面上成為糞肥。

亞哈有七十個兒子在撒瑪利亞。耶戶寫了一批信，送到撒瑪利亞，對耶斯列的首領、長老和亞哈眾子的導師說：

羅波安共娶了十八個妻子和六十個妾；共生了二十八個兒子，六十個女兒；他卻愛押沙龍的外孫女瑪迦，勝過其他的妻妾。

正如經上指著人子所說的，他固然要離世，但出賣人子的那人有禍了！他沒有生下來倒好。”

他終生在黑暗中吃喝，多有愁煩、疾病與憤怨。我認為既善又美的，就是人在神所賜給他一生有限的年日中吃喝，享受他在日光之下勞碌所得的一切，因為這是他的分。蒙神賜予財富與資產的人，神都使他能夠享用，並取自己的分，在勞碌中自得其樂，這是神的恩賜。

願他們像蝸牛般蠕行消融，如同婦人流產未見天日的胎兒。

於是他們把哈曼掛在他為末底改預備的木架上；王的忿怒才漸漸止息。

因此，耶和華論到猶大王約雅敬這樣說：他的後代必沒有人坐在大衛的王位上；他的屍體必拋棄在外，日間受炎熱，夜間受寒霜。

在我的眾子中（因為耶和華賜給我許多兒子），他揀選了我的兒子所羅門，坐耶和華的國位，統治以色列。

年輕時所生的兒女，好像勇士手中的箭。箭袋裝滿了箭的人是有福的，他們在城門口和仇敵說話的時候，必不至於羞愧。

兒孫是老人的冠冕，父親是兒女的榮耀。

哈曼把他的富貴榮華、兒女的眾多，以及王怎樣使他尊大，怎樣抬舉他在王的眾領袖和眾臣僕之上的一切事，都數說給他們聽。
