於是我稱讚享樂，因為在日光之下，沒有什麼好過吃喝享樂——在日光之下，在神賜給人一生的日子裡，在他的勞苦中，這些必伴隨他。

對那些今世富有的人，你當吩咐他們不可高傲自大，也不可把盼望寄託在靠不住的財富上，而要寄託在神身上，神把萬物豐豐富富地賜給我們享受。

我知道：人一生中沒有什麼比喜樂和行善更好的；並且，人人吃喝，在一切的勞苦中享受好處——這也是神的恩賜。

看哪，我所見為善為美的，就是人在神所賜給他一生可數的日子裡吃喝，享受他在日光之下勞苦所得的一切好處，因為這是他的份。而且，對每個蒙神賜予富貴資產的人，神也使他能享用，並領受他的份，在自己的勞苦中歡喜——這就是神的恩賜。

去吧！歡歡喜喜地吃你的飯，心中快樂地喝你的酒；因為神已經悅納你所做的。要讓你的衣服時時潔白，也不要讓你的頭上缺少膏油。在你一生所有虛空的日子，就是神賜給你日光之下虛空的日子，你當與你所愛的妻一同享受人生。要知道，在日光之下的勞碌中，這就是你一生勞苦所得的份。

我在以弗所與野獸搏鬥，如果按人的意思來說，對我有什麼好處呢？如果死人不會復活，就「讓我們吃吃喝喝吧，因為明天我們就要死了。」

然後，我要對我的靈魂說：靈魂哪，你擁有了很多好東西，足以享用多年，你就休息、吃喝、慶祝吧。』「可是神對他說：『你這愚妄的人哪！今夜，他們就要召回你的靈魂了。那麼，你所預備的要歸誰呢？』

其實神並不是沒有為自己留下證據，因為他常行美善：從天上賜給你們雨水和豐收的季節，使你們食物充足，滿心喜樂。」

人蒙神賜予富貴、資產和榮華，以致他心中所渴望的一無所缺；但神使他不能享用，反而是外人享用。這是虛空，也是極重的禍患！

青年人哪，你當在年少時歡喜；在青春的日子裡，使你的心快樂！你當照著你心所願、眼所見的去行；但你要知道，神必為這一切事審判你。因此你當從心中除掉煩惱，從肉體中除去疾苦；要知道，無論年少或青壯都轉眼成空。

你們如果不聽從，如果不放在心上，不把榮耀歸於我的名，我就使詛咒臨到你們，我要詛咒你們應得的祝福。事實上，我已經詛咒了，因為你們不把誡命放在心上。」
