其實他一生的日子都是痛苦，他的事務都是煩惱，他的心甚至在夜間也不得安息。這也是虛空！

因为他日日忧虑，他的劳苦成为愁烦，连夜间心也不安。这也是虚空。

終日勞苦、終夜不安、亦屬於虛。

終日憂愁、諸事煩惱、其心夜亦不安、此亦屬於虛、

All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless.

As long as they live, their work is nothing but pain and sorrow. Even at night their minds can’t rest. That doesn’t have any meaning either.

For all his days are full of sorrow, and his work is a vexation. Even in the night his heart does not rest. This also is vanity.

Their days of labor are filled with pain and grief; even at night their minds cannot rest. It is all meaningless.

你們早早起來，遲遲安歇，吃勞苦得來的飯，也是枉然；要知道，耶和華必使他所愛的人安睡。

然後，王回到宮中，整夜禁食，不讓人給他帶來任何娛樂享受，他也睡不著覺。

堅固門徒們的心，鼓勵他們持守信仰，說：「我們進入神的國，必須經過很多患難。」

你苦待我們的日子和我們遭害的歲月是怎樣，求你使我們的歡喜也怎樣。

那天夜裡，王睡不著覺，就吩咐人把《編年史》的記錄帶來，在王面前誦讀；

是的，我們因你的怒氣而滅亡，因你的怒火而惶恐。你把我們的罪孽擺在你面前，把我們隱藏的事擺在你的容光之中。我們一生的日子都在你的盛怒中消逝，我們度盡的歲月如同一聲嘆息。我們一生的日子，是七十歲，如果強壯，可到八十歲；但其中可誇耀的，不過是勞苦愁煩，轉瞬即逝，我們就如飛而去。

在我患難的日子裡，我求問主，夜間我的手伸著祈求，也不倦怠；我的靈魂不肯受安慰。我記念神，大聲哀鳴；我默想，就靈裡虛弱。細拉你使我不能合眼；我煩亂不安，甚至不能說話。

雅各回答法老：「我在世寄居的年日有一百三十年了；我一生的年日又少又苦，不及我祖先在世寄居的年日。」

我因嘆息而困乏；每個夜晚，我的淚水使我的床榻漂浮，使我的床鋪浸透。我的眼睛因煩惱而枯乾，因一切的敵人而衰竭。

勞力的人無論吃多吃少，都睡得甜美；富有人的豐足，卻不容他安睡。

要知道，智慧增多，煩惱也增多；知識增添，痛苦也增添。
