so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life.

你们一切都听见了，总而言之，应当敬畏神，谨守他的诫命，因为这是每一个人的本分。

因为“凡希望享受人生，要看见好日子的，就要禁止舌头不出恶言，嘴唇不说诡诈的话；也要离恶行善，寻找并追求和睦。

你要敬畏耶和华你的神，事奉他，依靠他，奉他的名起誓。

你们既称那不偏待人、按各人行为审判的主为父，就当存敬畏的心，过你们寄居的日子；

我儿，不可忘记我的训诲，你的心要谨守我的诫命；因为它们必把长久的日子、生命的岁数和平安，加给你。

因着怜悯和信实，罪孽得赎；因为敬畏耶和华，人可以避开罪恶。

天使说：“不可在这孩子身上下手，一点也不可害他；现在我知道你是敬畏神的了，因为你没有留下你的儿子、你的独生子不给我。”

你们要走在耶和华你们的神吩咐你们走的路上，使你们可以活着，可以享福，并且使你在将要占领为业的地上，可以长久居住。”

你要把这些话不断地教训你的儿女，无论你坐在家里，或行在路上，或躺下，或起来的时候，都要谈论。

我要指示你们当怕的是谁：当怕那杀身体以后，有权把人投入地狱里的；我告诉你们，应当怕他。

敬畏耶和华是智慧的开端；凡是这样行的都是明智的。耶和华该受赞美，直到永远。

他对人说：‘敬畏主就是智慧，远离邪恶就是聪明。’”

“以色列啊，现在耶和华你的神向你要的是什么呢？只要你敬畏耶和华你的神，行在他的一切道路上，爱他，一心一意事奉耶和华你的神，遵守耶和华的诫命和律例，就是我今日吩咐你的，为要叫你得福。

我们不把这些事向他们的子孙隐瞒，却要把耶和华应得的赞美、他的能力，和他所行的奇事，都向后代的人述说。他在雅各设立法度，在以色列中制订律法，就是他吩咐我们的列祖，去教训他们的子孙的，好使后代的人，包括将要出生的儿女，都可以知道；他们也要起来，告诉他们的子孙，使他们信靠神，不忘记神的作为，谨守他的诫命；免得他们像他们的列祖，成了顽梗悖逆的一代，心不坚定的一代，他们的心对神不忠。

我拣选了他﹙“拣选”直译是“认识”。﹚，是要他吩咐子孙，和他的家属，遵守我耶和华的道，秉公行义，好叫我耶和华应许亚伯拉罕的话都可实现。”

免得你忘了你在何烈山，站在耶和华你们的神面前的那天。那时耶和华对我说：‘你要为我召集众民，我要叫他们听我的话，使他们在那地上生活的日子，可以学习敬畏我，又可以教训自己的儿女。’

总要让母鸟飞去，只可以取子；这样你就可以得着好处，得享长寿。

智慧的右手有长寿，左手有财富和尊荣。
