You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

Do not bow down to them or worship them. I am the Lord your God. I want you to worship only me. I cause the sins of the parents to affect their children. I will cause the sins of those who hate me to affect even their grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected— even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.

Do not bow in worship to them, and do not serve them, because I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, bringing the consequences of the fathers’ iniquity on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me,

You must not worship or serve them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God. I punish the sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons for the sin of the fathers who reject me,

You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them; for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me;

“不可为自己雕刻神像，不可仿照任何飞禽走兽或水族的样子造神像，不可跪拜它们，也不可供奉它们，因为我——你的上帝耶和华痛恨不贞，我必追讨背弃我之人的罪，从父到子直到三四代。但那些爱我、遵守我诫命的人，我必以慈爱待他们，直到千代。

向千万人彰显慈爱，赦免罪恶和过犯，但决不免除罪责，必向子孙追讨父辈的罪债，直到三四代。”

我向我的上帝耶和华祷告、认罪，说：“主啊，你是伟大而可畏的上帝，你向那些爱你、遵守你诫命的人信守你的慈爱之约。我们犯罪作恶，行为邪恶叛逆，偏离你的诫命和典章，没有听从你的仆人——众先知奉你的名向我们的君王、首领、先祖及国中百姓所说的话。主啊，你是公义的，我们今日满面羞愧，我们犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民，以及因对你不忠而被驱散到远近各地的以色列人都满面羞愧。主啊，我们和我们的君王、首领、先祖因得罪了你而满脸羞愧。虽然我们背叛了主——我们的上帝，祂却有怜悯和饶恕之心。

不可拜别的神明，因为耶和华是痛恨不贞的上帝，祂名为‘痛恨不贞’。

‘耶和华不轻易发怒，充满慈爱；祂赦免罪恶和过犯，但决不免除罪责，必向子孙追讨父辈的罪债，直到三四代。’

你恩待千万人，也向后世的子孙追讨他们祖先所犯的罪。伟大全能的上帝啊！你名叫万军之耶和华。

就福音而论，他们成为上帝的仇敌是为了使你们得到福音；就上帝的拣选而论，因为他们祖先的缘故，他们仍是上帝所爱的。因为上帝绝不会收回祂的恩赐和呼召。

因此，所有义人在地上所流的血，就是从义人亚伯的血，直到你们在圣所和祭坛之间所杀的巴拉加的儿子撒迦利亚的血，都要归到你们身上。我实在告诉你们，这一切的罪责都要归到这个世代。
