公会采纳了他的意见，于是把使徒召回来打了一顿，再次警告他们不可奉耶稣的名传道，才放了他们。

如果你们犯罪受责打，能够忍受得住，有什么功劳呢？但如果你们因行善而受苦，还能忍受，就是上帝所喜悦的。

于是，彼拉多为他们释放了巴拉巴，下令将耶稣鞭打后，带出去钉十字架。
