并且我们有先知更确切的话语。你们如果留心这些话语，把它当做照耀在暗处的灯，一直到天光破晓、晨星在你们心中升起，你们就做得很好了。你们首先要知道这一点：经上的一切预言都不是出于人自己的解释；因为预言从来不是藉着人的意思传来的，而是人受圣灵的感动说出从神而来的话。

关于这救恩，那些预言你们要得着这恩典的先知，曾经寻求过，详细查考过。他们查考了自己里面基督之灵，当他预言有关基督的苦难和此后的荣耀时，究竟指明的是什么时候、或什么样的情况。他们蒙了启示，知道所服事的这一切，不是为自己，而是为你们。如今，这些事藉着从天上派来的圣灵，通过那些向你们传福音的人，传讲给了你们；对于这些事，天使们也渴望能详细察看。

并且你从年幼就知道了圣经，这圣经能使你有智慧，藉着在基督耶稣里的信仰，以至于救恩。圣经都是神所默示的，对于教导、责备、规正、在义中的训练都是有益处的，要使属神的人完备，为一切美善的工作，装备齐全。

神哪，列国进入了你的继业，玷污了你圣洁的殿，使耶路撒冷变为荒堆！他们把你仆人的尸体给了天空的飞鸟为食物，把你忠信者的肉体给了地上的野兽。

我但以理正在观看这异象，想要领悟它，看哪，有一位样貌像人的站在我面前！我又听见在乌莱运河中间有人的声音呼喊说：“加百列啊，你当使这人领悟这异象！”

荒凉的城邑破败，家家关门闭户，无人能进。街上有为酒哭喊的声音；一切欢乐都已黯淡，地上的喜乐都已离去。城中只有废墟残留，城门被打得破碎不堪。

太监对腓利说：“请问，先知说的这话是关于谁呢？是关于自己，还是关于别人呢？”

我比我所有的教师更明达，因为我默想你的法度。我比长老们更有悟性，因为我谨守你的训诫。

“当你们看见藉着先知但以理所说的‘那带来毁灭的亵渎者’站在圣地的时候——读者应当思考——

你的圣城变成了旷野，锡安变成了旷野，耶路撒冷变成了荒凉之地。

你要专心诵读经文、鼓励和教导人，直到我来。

你的法度就是我的喜乐，是我的谋士！

我就说：“主啊，这要到什么时候呢？”他说：“直到城镇废弃，无人居住，房屋空无一人，土地废弃荒凉的时候；那时，耶和华必把人迁到远方，在这地上必有很多被遗弃之处。

“当你们看见‘那带来毁灭的亵渎者’站在不该站的地方时——读者应当思考——那时，在犹太的人应当逃到山里；

求你举步到那长久荒凉之地——在圣所中，仇敌已经做了一切恶事。你的敌人在你的会所中吼叫，设立了自己的标帜为记号；他们像是在树林中挥斧头的人；而现在，他们用斧子和锤子，把圣所的雕刻全都击碎了。他们放火把你的圣所烧成平地，亵渎了你名的住所。
