且由是錫以寶貴豐厚之許、俾爾得脫在世因慾之敗壞、克與夫上帝之性、

許我尊榮景福、不為斯世惡俗所囿、於上帝之性情、是則是傚、

又以己之榮與德、許我以至大至寶之恩、使我儕我儕原文作爾曹賴此得脫斯世由慾而生之敗壞、得與天主同性、

賴斯大榮大德、吾人復受有無上無疆之恩諾、俾吾人脫世俗縱情恣慾之腐敗惡習、得躋於神化之境、而融於天主之性。

Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

He has also given us his very great and valuable promises. He did it so you could share in his nature. You can share in it because you’ve escaped from the evil in the world. This evil is caused by sinful desires.

by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

而你們在自己的心靈裡得以更新，並且穿上新人；這新人是照著神的形像，在真理的公義和聖潔中被造成的。

肉身的父親在短暫的日子裡，固然照著自己的意思來管教我們；但萬靈之父是為了我們的益處管教我們，好使我們在他的聖潔上有份。

而且臉上的帕子既然被揭去了，我們大家就像鏡子返照出主的榮光，正在被改變成與主同樣的形像，從榮耀歸入榮耀，這正是出於主——聖靈。

並且穿上了新人。這新人照著創造他那一位的形像不斷地被更新，以致真正認識他。

「所以主說：你們要從他們中間出來，要被分別出來；不要碰不潔淨的東西，我就接納你們」，「我將要做你們的父親，你們將要做我的兒女。這是主、全能者說的。」所以各位蒙愛的人哪，我們既然擁有這些應許，就讓我們潔淨自己，除去肉體和靈魂的一切汙穢，懷著敬畏神的心來達成聖潔。

他們說虛妄誇大的話，以肉體的欲望和好色的事來引誘人；這些被引誘的人好不容易才逃脫那些生活在迷途中的人；他們許諾給這些人自由，自己卻是衰朽的奴隸。要知道，一個人被什麼制伏，就成為什麼的奴隸。原來，他們如果藉著認識我們的主、救主耶穌基督而逃脫這世界的汙穢，卻又被這些汙穢糾纏、制伏了，那麼，他們最後的情況就比先前更壞了；

因為順著自己肉體撒種的，就會從肉體收衰朽；順著聖靈撒種的，就會從聖靈收永恆的生命。

但是所有接受他的，就是信他名的人，他就賜給他們權柄成為神的兒女。他們不是由血緣、或肉體的意願、或人的意志所生的，而是由神所生的。

但如今，耶穌得了更尊貴的服事工作，就像他也是更美好之約的中保那樣；這約建立在各樣更美好的應許之上。原來，如果那第一個約是無可指責的，就沒有尋求第二個約的必要了，因為神指責說：「看哪，時候就要到了！主說，我要與以色列家和猶大家訂立新約。這約不像從前我拉著他們祖先的手，在領他們出埃及地的日子裡與他們所立的約。因為他們沒有持守我的約，我就不理他們——這是主說的。主又說，在那些日子以後，我要與以色列家訂立這樣的約：我要把我的法則放在他們的意念中，刻在他們的心上；我將要做他們的神，他們將要做我的子民。他們絕不需要教導各自的同胞、各自的兄弟，說：『你要認識主』——因為他們所有的人，從卑微的到尊貴的，都將認識我；又因為我要寬恕他們的不義，絕不再想起他們的罪孽。」

為此，基督做了新約的中保，藉著死贖清了人在第一個約之下的過犯，好使那些蒙召的人可以得到所應許的永恆繼業。

耶穌基督的奴僕和使徒西門彼得，致那些藉著我們的神、救主耶穌基督的義，與我們領受同樣寶貴信仰的人：

以致不再順著人的欲望，而是順著神的旨意，在世上度餘下的時間。要知道，過往的日子，你們做了外邦人願意做的事，活在好色、私慾、酗酒、荒宴、狂飲和律法所禁止的拜偶像之中——這已經夠了。

你們中間的衝突是從哪裡來的？爭執是從哪裡來的？難道不是從你們身體各部分中交戰的私慾而來的嗎？你們渴望而不能擁有，就殺人；你們嫉妒而不能獲得，就爭鬥、作戰。你們不能擁有，是因為你們不求；你們求也不能得到，是因為你們求的動機不對，為了要花費在自己的私慾上。

因為神的一切應許，在基督裡都成為「是」。所以，說「阿們」也是藉著基督，使榮耀藉著我們歸於神。

神的各樣應許，原是對亞伯拉罕和他的一個後裔說的。神並沒有說「後裔們」，像是指著許多人；而是說「你的一個後裔」，像是指著一個人，這一位就是基督。

他們是以色列人：兒子的名份、榮耀、諸約、所賜的律法、禮儀、各樣應許，都是他們的；
