He went up to the temple of the Lord with the people of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the priests and the prophets— all the people from the least to the greatest. He read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant, which had been found in the temple of the Lord.

The king had all the words of the Book of the Covenant read to them. The book had been found in the Lord’ s temple.

And the king went up to the house of the Lord, and with him all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the priests and the prophets, all the people, both small and great. And he read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant that had been found in the house of the Lord.

希勒家大祭司对沙番书记说：“我在耶和华殿里发现了律法书。”希勒家把书递给沙番，沙番就读了。

摩西吩咐他们说：“每逢七年的最后一年，就是定期的豁免年，在住棚节的时候，当以色列众人来到耶和华—你神所选择的地方朝见他的时候，你要在以色列众人面前念这律法给他们听。要召集百姓，男人、女人、孩子，和在你城里寄居的，叫他们都得以听见，好学习敬畏耶和华—你们的神，谨守遵行这律法的一切话。他们的儿女，就是那未曾认识的，也可以听，学习敬畏耶和华—你们的神；你们一生的日子，在你们过约旦河得为业的地上，都要这样做。”

我又看见死了的人，无论大小，都站在宝座前。案卷都展开了，并另有一卷展开，就是生命册。死了的人都凭着这些案卷所记载的，照他们所行的受审判。

他们在犹大教导，带着耶和华的律法书，走遍犹大各城教导百姓。

“把这律法书拿来，放在耶和华—你们神的约柜旁，可以在那里作指责你们的见证。

大的小的都在那里，奴仆脱离主人得自由。

那日的四分之一，他们站在自己的地方念耶和华—他们神的律法书，又在那日的四分之一认罪，敬拜耶和华—他们的神。

然而，我蒙神的帮助，直到今日还站立得稳，向尊贵的和卑微的作见证。我所讲的，并不外乎众先知和摩西所说将来必成的事，

他们击打门外的人，无论老少，都眼睛迷糊，找门找得很烦躁。

这些日子满了，王又为所有住书珊城堡的百姓，无论大小，在御花园的院子里摆设宴席七日。

他们掳去城内的妇女和城中的大小人口，一个都没有杀，全都带走，他们就上路去了。

运到之后，耶和华的手击打那城，使那城的人非常惊慌，无论大小都生痔疮。

在那日，百姓听到人朗读摩西的律法书，发现书上写着，亚扪人和摩押人永不可入神的会；

那时，众百姓如同一人聚集在水门前的广场，请以斯拉文士将耶和华吩咐以色列的摩西的律法书带来。七月初一，以斯拉祭司将律法书带到听了能明白的男女会众面前。他在水门前的广场，从清早到中午，在男女和能明白的人面前读这律法书，众百姓都侧耳而听。以斯拉文士站在为这事特制的木台上。站在他旁边的有玛他提雅、示玛、亚奈雅、乌利亚和希勒家；站在他右边的有玛西雅；站在他左边的有毗大雅、米沙利、玛基雅、哈顺、哈拔大拿、撒迦利亚和米书兰。以斯拉站在上面，在众百姓眼前展开这书。他一展开，众百姓都站起来。以斯拉称颂耶和华至大的神，众百姓都举手应声说：“阿们！阿们！”他们低头，俯伏在地，敬拜耶和华。耶书亚、巴尼、示利比、雅悯、亚谷、沙比太、荷第雅、玛西雅、基利他、亚撒利雅、约撒拔、哈难、毗莱雅和利未人使百姓明白律法；百姓都站在自己的地方。他们清清楚楚地念神的律法书，讲明意思，使百姓明白所念的。

凡不寻求耶和华—以色列神的，无论大小、男女，必被处死。

凡敬畏耶和华的，无论大小，主必赐福给他。

约柜里没有别的，只有两块石版，就是以色列人出埃及地，耶和华与他们立约的时候，摩西在何烈山放在那里的。
