He followed the ways of the kings of Israel and even sacrificed his son in the fire, engaging in the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites.

And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.

And they built the high places of Baal, which[ are] in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through[ the fire] unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves[ of] gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.And this thing became a sin: for the people went[ to worship] before the one,[ even] unto Dan.

Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever[ he be] of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth[ any] of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.

For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel?[ As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.
